David Friel has delivered a very definite timeline for Shin Yamada joining Celtic.
The Sun reporter has a long established record on Celtic stories and was first to link the hoops with an interest in Ben Nygren with a £1.5m deal concluded with Nordjaelland concluded within two weeks of that report.
There has been suggestions that Yamada has been a Celtic target over the last few weeks but tonight Friel took the speculation a few steps further.
The Sun reports:
SHIN YAMADA is set to fly in for a Celtic medical after coming off Japan duty next week.
The Kawasaki Frontale striker is currently in South Korea for the three-game E-1 international tournament.
We were first to tell you how Yamada, 25, is wanted by the Hoops in a £1.5million deal after impressing in the J.League over the past 18 months.
And it’s understood the move should be finalised following his national team commitments, which end on July 15.
Yamada scored 19 league goals last term. And while he has failed to hit the same form this season, his bustling style has impressed Hoops scouts.
Two goals this season isn’t likely to excite the Celtic support who have been waiting since January for a replacement to Kyogo Furuhashi.
Adam Idah shared the main striking duties last season with Johnny Kenny a rarely used third choice with Callum Osmond signed from Fulham.
If the timeline is correct Yamuda could be in the Celtic squad to face Newcastle United on July 19.

Think Rodgers is in his last season, very little being spent.
I’ll never understand the lunacy of selling Kyogo. It was torture watching him make endless runs only not to be spotted by a teammate. Surely a first time ball into space would have returned many goals. As for playing Calmac in a holding position, it is blatant his best football is on the front foot further forward and unlock defences which funnily enough Kyogo would have thrived off.
