With every passing day of failure in the transfer market Celtic fans are looking more towards Michael Nicholson.
As CEO for almost four years he has had time ti stamp his personality and plans on the club with Recruitment the most visible aspect of a football club.
Since becoming CEO in September 2021 Nicholson has kept an incredibly low profile, outwith AGM and statutory duties he has only once made any public comment.
In June 2023 he took part in the media conference for the return of Brendan Rodgers as manager, sitting beside the Irishman and club Chairman Peter Lawwell.
Nicholson made only one intervention, it sounded like he was reading off a Mission Statement when he explained that the club’s intention was to be world class in everything that they do.
Obviously player wages will never be world class, the billions pouring into the EPL ensures that will never be the case but there is plenty of other areas to be world class.
At Celtic other than commercial ventures aimed at supporters it is hard to see where the club is world class.

Recruitment certainly seems an area where Celtic are falling well short, recent news about negotiations to sign Jakob Breum has illustrated that clearly.
Putting in an initial bid at 25% of the asking price is never a smart move, raising the offer in two stages to 50% of the asking price isn’t going to make things any better.
When you couple that with reports of making an offer to take a teenage defender on loan from Manchester City with no option to buy it takes the patience of supporters to breaking point.

How many teams around Europe see our offers pop up and just spam them or delete them
Must be the biggest riddy going
It’s so played out
But any action, needs a fans base to take the lead and EVERYONE to follow what’s proposed
It was time 5 year ago
Enough is enough now

Nothing ever changes and nothing ever will with this board. The only thing that forces change is supporters, but when you have a supposed waiting list of thousands for season tickets, the board know they can get away with it

Terminado incoming.
I’d be interested to know how many people still blame Rodgers for leaving last time.— Mr Quinn T. Senshall (@quinntsenshal) July 28, 2025
Time to remove these bozzos no matter what they do in The next month, our team starts the season worse that the shit show that finished last season
Untenable !!— John McCabe (@JohnMcCabe28) July 28, 2025

You get what you pay for, nickel&dime players on nickel&dime wages.
The only people who ain’t on nickel&dime wages and bonuses are the board.
I really don’t know what you are whining about Joe, really?
Do you remember 1957? Well, between 1957 and 1967 Celtic never won ONE trophy!
So, it is not all doom and gloom because we don’t win every single competition that we enter!
Have you or all the other clubs’ executives critcs on this site ever been a director of a football club? Or even a company with a turnover of tens of millions of pounds?
It is possibly not just as black and white as it all appears to be!
So, I suggest respectfully that you take your foot off the gas a bit and let those who run the Football Club get on with running it
Editor: Cheers mate, I will slam the accelerator to the floor now to highlight the multiple failings of your corporate heroes.
Sell players and don’t replace them, bet that didn’t happen in 1957, get real. 10s of millions in the bank whilst the team is getting weaker. Not about winning everything, it’s about being the best you can.
You’ll never be the fuckin best if yer not winning !
I think you meant to say” get on with ruining it ”
Happy to help.
Tony B don’t listen to the shite maister,he’s a happy clappy board mouthpiece.
Brilliant…!!
Ah the Meister acting like a stuntman for Sam Dingle with the shite ge stews out sticking up for the board.
Maybe the Meister is a long-lost lovechild of Liewell or Nicholson, whoever was last on gets the blame.
Brilliant…!!
Scottish Cup 64-65 and league cup 65-66.
Maybe running a company with a turnover of 10s of millions of pounds is beyond them as the business is about football and if you let the football side slip for no obvious reason then you ain’t running the business right
Come on Joe. Football is an entertainment industry as much as a it is a competative sport.
It isn’t just about winning!
1965 Scottish Cup Winners
1965 League Cup Winners
1966 League Champions
I take it the ‘1967’ was a typo? No worries, maister. Happens to the best of us. ?
Hail Hail.
What planet is the Master on,this board are as bad as the Kelly’s,and Whites were, that don’t give a toss for the supporters or the Manager
or players, how much bonus they get from return from there shares.its not about how many trophies we win it’s about time we had people who pay there way through ST,and buying from Celtic shops that help keep club afloat
“World class” – utterly laughable and pathetic. I thought it was Lord Charles sitting next to Brendan. Then I remembered he’s the dummy that’s on £800k per year, courtesy of uncle Peter.
Michael Nicholson & Peter Lawwell are the Stan & Ollie of Celtic Park.
Lawwell: Well, here’s another fine mess you’ve gotten me into with this transfer policy of mine.
Nicholson: I don’t know what they’re all complaining about, I never said a word.
Lawwell: If I have to take the blame alone, you’re coming with me!
Sons of the Dessert—eating up world class bonuses is all they’re good for.
The Maister needs reminding, with that attitude, we’ed still have Paddy Turner and Frank Haffey’s playing for us and losing league games to QotS. If they say they’re going to be ‘world class’, then demonstrate it. Actions speak louder than words. Spend the money, we’ve only 4 weeks left.
Totally agree with everyone’s statement’s. This board are so out of touch that they’re blind to the fact. We are a proud fan base but the board are taking the piss out of us. Time to rise and get rid of this out of date board who are not fit for purpose.
Michael Nicholson we would be better with Jack.
Scottish cup 19-65 league cup 19-65 league winners 19-66 league cup 19-66 I witnessed all these trophies before 19-67 .
If you spend £30million on buying the right players you are guaranteed the league and doubling your money. Not a bad profit as well as upping the fan’s interest.
The only caveat is that players like Engels cost £11 million and people are saying give him a season to settle. We need to buy battle ready players.
Does anybody know who chose Engels?
I have said this before but when Barkas was touted as a buy I went on to YouTube to see his “greatest hits” and decided he wasn’t a goalkeeper never mind a bad one. The next day they had paid £5 million for him.
If Jakob Breum is any good he’ll pay for himself if he helps the team get into Europe. Just offer the asking fee (less a million even) and get him started.
Some guy’s drive with their foot to the floor all the time!
Just as well it’s not our ‘custodians’ then as they are asleep at the wheel and it would be a pretty ugly accident that so it would !
we cant stop the board, sure they have the upper hand as with the waiting list but we hold the other ace what we buy from the sports shops stop buying for season soon loosen lips
