Chris Sutton is puzzled by Celtic’s approach to wingers in the transfer window.
Four successive titles have been delivered- key to those successes under Ange Postecoglou and Brendan Rodgers was the availability of four wingers all capable of being game changers and scoring goals.
Two would start the match, between 60 and 70 minutes two changes would be made to pose fresh questions of tiring defenders.
Celtic haven’t always had the system perfected but going into the start of the SPFL Premiership campaign Rodgers is seriously short of options and quality.
A long term injury to Jota and the sale of Nicolas Kuhn has completely changed the landscape, in an ideal world Daizen Maeda could be the first choice striker rather than the only left wing option.
Reflecting  on the current wide options Sutton told the Daily Record:
You get the sense it’s not where Brendan wants to be. I get that.
James Forrest has been a brilliant player for Celtic. He’s getting on. Maybe he’ll be brilliant again this season. It wouldn’t surprise me, but can he play those games?
Is Yang going to be consistent enough? Maybe he is. Maybe he’ll show something different and that’s the aim than he did last season. He was OK last season.
It’s that trust element at the highest level in the big games. In fairness to Nicolas Kuhn, he was the best player in Scotland for the first half of last season.
Then you can question what fizzles out at the end of the season. You can say it’s good money, but you’ve got to replace like for like.
No wingers have been signed this summer, perhaps Ben Nygren or Shin Yamada could play out wide but neither is comparable to Jota or Kuhn.

Maeda is nowhere near as effective out wide, if thats the plan this season I fear the worst.
JF in all honesty probably only has one half of quality football in him.
And yet still all I see is enquiries into players who don’t fit what we need.
Its reaching the stage that I am actually getting really angry at something that really shouldn’t trouble me at all.
I could see the point if we were all demonstrating outside the stadium demanding a 50m player be signed, but all we are looking for is replacing quality with quality, like for like, a service, a wee MOT just to keep things ticking over.
But no, its major surgery nearly every season, vital organs removed by the surgeons upstairs then put on the donor waiting list in the hope that something will come along.
Utterly sick of this penny pinching nonsense, alongside the complete silence from those that fans pay to represent them.
They all need directly calling out at the next AGM to explain why none of them ever keep fans informed.
Its reprehensible behaviour from those who are actually answerable to the fans but treat them appallingly.
At least deaf mutes use sign language.
We have more than enough for spl its champions league qualifying Rodgers will be wanting players remeber there’s know way we will win champions league but for a club like Celtic_fc_1888 need to be in top tournament we seen it in Italy against ajax we should have been leading at halftime poor start to second half then we just folded couldn’t hold on to ball Idah couldn’t do what’s he is there for a target man for his size he cant hold on to the ball when facing his on goal his lay offs put the ball behind his on coming midfielders how many times did he start attacks for opposition frustating for Rodgers and supporters has he the mentality for Celtic big support yes get him into channels he a player but how many times you get a chance to do that with teams in spl area like playing football in a telephone box Ajax is the worst I have seen him hopefully just a blip but he made midfield look bad the had to turn to get his passes facing there own goals with opposition attacking the ball due to Idah bad hold up or bad backward pass stop let the defender clatter into you its a foul dont be trying to pass back, sideways is a blind pass if oppents intercept two defenders midfielder out of action and you chasing back to defend even if we retrieve ball no one ahead to take a forward pass
And for the Palestinian flag wavers you have made your point we are a football club we do our charity work forget all this politics stuff this person or persons is costing Celtic £100,000 of fines and will get our stadium shut down so please if you are any where near him or her reason with them tell them to stand outside parliament or Israeli embassy instead of costing Celtic hundred of thousands in fines are the that nartistic they dont think of Celtic football club money

AGMs are a waste of time similar to a tory party conference joe has first hand experience after last year’s. Accountable to no one.
Indeed, as a shareholder I went to a few around the 09-11 period, but by then Liewell was the Supreme Leader and the AGM was completely stage managed, questions all pre agreed with stooges in the audience, anyone with what Liewell thought to be ‘anti -board’ views didn’t get anywhere near a microphone. These men will only listen when the fans turn off the money tap. Honestly, they can’t believe they pull this stunt 2 a year, every year yet the Celtic punters keep sucking it up. Plenty talk big, but then when it comes down to it get into line, buy the ST, 10th replica shirt launched that season etc….
Editor: One shareholder has been getting through in recent years, Lawwell told him that he had never read the Five (Six) Way Agreement, Nicholson claimed that the CCTV was switched off when glass appeared in Joe Hart’s goalmouth then claimed that Ange was the driving force in appointing Mark Lawwell!
Lol don’t talk about staying away from the stadium that only upsets the BENJAMINS in our support,oh yes we have them in thousands just like sevco.
