There isn’t much sympathy around for Rabbi Matondo this afternoon when it was reported that he had undergone close season surgery on a knee injury.
Since his big money move from Schalke 04 in the summer of 2022, accompanied by a huge salary, little has been seen of the Welshman with blistering pace.
As soon as he was signed the media messengers were quick to point out that Matondo was as quick as Usain Bot over 10 yards, unfortunately he also has the same football ability as the Olympic sprinter.
Over the course of three seasons and three managers the 24-year-old has started just 18 SPFL matches, out on loan to Hannover 96 in January he made little impact in Bundesliga II.
Rabbi Matondo’s return to pre-season training has been delayed due to a minor knee procedure over summer, with the winger expected back in August.

Last August Matondo turned in an outstanding performance against Ross County which saw Phil Clement pull the plug on a loan deal to Norwich City. A week later he suffered a sore leg in the 3-0 defeat to Celtic that saw him ruled out until December.
With 11 more pay days on his alleged £30,000/week salary Matondo knows that his big money days are almost over after four lucrative seasons at Iondo he is also currently out injured.brox.
Ben Davies is also in the final year of his contract, like Matondo he missed the friendly against Club Brugge through injury.
Rip his contract up and pap him out the door. Stealing a wage.
