Celtic are reported to have turned their attention to Isak Jansson to replace Como-bound Nicolas Kuhn.

In the summer of 2023 Brendan Rodgers was presented with Yang Hyun-jun, Marco Tilio and Luis Palma but clearly wasn’t impressed by any of those wingers.

With Celtic toiling for creativity Rodgers turned to Rapid Vienna with Kuhn in flashes showing that he was a cut above the other wide options with the exception of Daizen Maeda.

After pre-season training with Celtic in the USA a year ago Kuhn got off to a flying start to the new season, excelling in the Champions League highlighted by goals against RB Leipzig and Bayern Munich which alerted others to the re-born former German youth internationalist.

Kuhn will leave a big hole in the Celtic squad, in a bid to fill that David Friel of The Sun reports on a return to Austria for his successor:

CELTIC are eyeing Rapid Vienna winger Isak Jansson.

Boss Brendan Rodgers is on the hunt for new wide men as Nicolas Kuhn heads for Como in a £17million exit.

SunSport understands that £3m-rated Swede Jansson is one of those on Celts’ radar after an impressive campaign.

The 23-year-old joined Rapid as Kuhn’s direct replacement after his Parkhead switch in January 2024.

Jansson has been a standout in the Austrian Bundesliga over the last 18 months, and is now being chased by clubs across Europe.

Lazio, Fiorentina and Ligue 1 new boys Paris FC have all been linked with moves for the Sweden Under-21 cap.

Jansson hit nine goals and claimed six assists for Rapid last season as he helped them reach the Conference League quarter-finals.

Celtic boss Rodgers insists it’s vital they get it right by replacing the players they are selling.

With Kuhn expected to complete his move to Como in the next few days Rodgers will be anxious to get a replacement in as quickly as possible.

The SPFL season starts on August 3, with a Champions League Play Off on August 19/20 and 26/27 the Celtic boss knows that he will soon be expected to deliver results on the pitch to build on last season’s progress.

    Get in there

The only club in with EUROPE with £100m in the bank but needs to sell before we buy. Incomprehensible!

If that YouTube reel is anything to go by he looks decent, takes players on and is well used to getting clattered and sent crashing to the deck by defenders, so he should adapt well to Scottish football and it’s hammer throwers. But if he’s Swedish who is the guy in the Denmark shirt at the start of the video?

Wingers, strikers, for best part of a decade it’s the backline that has been our Achilles heel, be it poor players or more likely the coaching not good enough.
I genuinely believe that we could get 4 Van Dyke’s or similar and we would still leak goals like a sieve due to the poor coaching, set pieces are awful, defending corners awful, scoring from corners awful.
Time to stop this jobs for the bhoys nonsense and get the best we can, otherwise our adventures in Europe in particular are gonna continue to be feart to look stuff.
