The source of the Odsonne Edouard to Celtic story

Around dinner time on Monday Celtic fans were fed a familiar dish- in the absence of genuine transfer news Brendan Rodgers is ‘monitoring closely’ Odsonne Edouard.

It is one of those phrases like keeping tabs or asking to be kept informed which hints at transfer activity without nailing it down.

In January Celtic resigned Jota and got Kieran Tierney onto a pre-contract agreement, since then it has been open season on bringing back former players, especially those that excelled under Brendan Rodgers.

Edouard has a year left on the Crystal Palace contract that he signed when he left Celtic in 2021, last season was disastrous out on loan at Leicester City.

Soon afterwards the Daily Record was on the trail.

Sebastian Vidal is a French reporter that specialises on English football, he has 15,500 Twitter followers, a decent number but not quite overwhelming.

He may well have a contact that knows the thinking of Rodgers and whoever is involved with recruitment inside Celtic, he may not.

Mention Edouard to Celtic fans and there are a dozen or more memories to call on but they are all drifting and fading, over the last two seasons very little has gone right for French Eddie.

According to Transfermarkt Edouard made four substitute appearances last season in the EPL for Leicester totalling 26 minutes with no goals scored.

The previous season at Crystal Palace he scored seven goals in 30 appearances totalling 1,555 minutes, the equivalent of just over 17 full matches.

At the age of 27 he should be in his prime but it will be a brave manager that places their trust in a striker after basically a complete season out of football.

Some ARSEHOLE called Oliver Walton was so full of praise for the sevco captain of disappointment bumming him up fir 10 years service with numerous amounts of trophy wins behind him.
NEVER HEARD SO MUCH SHITE IN MY LIFE.
Since Rangers died and sevco came crawling out the ground what has ne won in total 1 league title and about 3 cups if they are lucky, how that becomes numerous nobody will ever know.

French are sulky bastards, He never lifted a leg for months once he decided he was moving, and if I’m absolutely honest, probably the most overrated striker we’ve ever had, just never saw the hype that some did, aye he scored a few nice ones but don’t they all ?
