Brendan Rodgers is hopeful of transfer activity being completed ahead of the SPFL Premiership opener at home to St Mirren on Sunday.
The transfer of Nicolas Kuhn has helped generate a transfer surplus in the region of £15m from the current transfer window but left a gaping hole in the Starting XI.
It isn’t every day that you uncover a winger that can deliver 20 goals and 16 assists but that is what Celtic sold to Como at the start of this month.
The hoops have yet to sign a winger, with Jota out with a long term injury Rodgers has very limited options on the wings.
Towards the end of last season Rodgers said that he was looking for three additions to his squad, most fans would say that the numbers in and out so far are basically neutral.
Without dropping any hints Rodgers made it clear that he is expecting some incoming activity this week.

We hope this week that there will be some news on that (new arrivals). However, I think that coaches and the transfer market don’t move at the same pace. A coach always wants a player in immediately, but the market doesn’t always work like that. There is a lot that goes into it.
This is the reason for pre-season. You want the team together as quickly as you can, so you can get good work in and the spirit formed. We know that traditionally it can be a challenge.
He added
A coach will always want the players in. I think it’s arithmetic. It is purely counting, because we’ve lost players, and we want to replace those players with quality. It’s not an opinion, it’s where it’s at.
I’m very hopeful that we can do that. For me, the focus is very much on who is here. We know we have work to do. I am hopeful that we can get that done by the end of the window.
Are you happy with Celtic's transfer activity
Absolutely- fantastic business
I will judge on September 1
Horrific- feels like 2023 again
On Monday August 4 Celtic will find out their opponents for the Champions League Play Off with those matches being played on August 19/20 and 26/27.
A squad of 25 including four club trained and four SFA trained players has to be submitted on August 14 although two changes can be made before 11pm the day before the first leg.

Usual PISH spouted fae Rodgers, we’re buying NAEBDY before the CL Tie! He must be SICK & TIRED ae rolling oot the SAME AULD RHETORIC & I’ve nae doubt his Agents looking fur a new club fur him as we stand! CANNOT be blamed in ANY WAY this time, the board have ROYALLY SHAFTED HIM!
And as is the norm, the new players step off the bus once all the pre season is over and the first competitive game of the season is about to kick off.
I cannot even begin to imagine what it must be like for a mgr to have a player rock up a few days, or even later, before the first game and expect them just to slot in, on ye go son, just run up n down the side there n we’ll see wot yer like.
PL and his cronies go out of their way whilst negotiating for players to hammer the price down over months sometimes yet expect the manager, once that sale has been completed, to work miracles in a couple o days.
Why is he not entitled to the same time period to assess new signings?
Honestly, I’m at a loss to explain what I see as self destruction, self harm, managed decline to keep the OF brand relevant, there’s nowt else explains it other than PL is a money grubbing accountant only interested in the bank balance.
Sickening, it really is.
The market seems to work pretty fast when we’re selling players , doesn’t it Brendan, the manager is just spouting the same auld pish he gets told by the board at every transfer window.
Lip service.
