  1. Seems very similar to 2018 when Brendan lost his arm wrestling competition with The Celtic CEO, who is now the Chairman and who has his Mini Me Mute Mike in place this year? Looking like The Celtic Owner and his Lieutenants are looking at their usual 20% of Transfer Income to be spent on incoming projects to keep ahead of their City Rivals in the league. Champions League progression is not of interest. It’s 2019, or even 2020 all over again! Good news is that next years Yes Man In John Kennedy will see a reasonable budget being spent on the Chairman’s Picks / Projects and he’ll do what he’s told and the Customers will keep paying…..

  2. BR is leaving so PL ain’t spending.
Not that he spent much while he’s been here right enough.
You would think that PL would know that we probably ain’t ever gonna get another mgr of the same calibre as BR if he goes so surely the carrot of a decent budget, continuity, and continued qualification for the CL would maybe be enough to persuade him to stay instead of managed decline till he leaves?
It’s pretty obvious that PL has an issue with managers who can think for themselves.
PL is single handedly the biggest issue at Celtic FC and needs punted, his fingers are in every pie, he’s an accountant ffs…that says it all.

    1. Hey, don’t tar all accountants with the ‘PL brush’ !

PL has been a hindrance to the growth and development of CFC plc:

      unambitious and insular.

[CFC’s long-term performance is only acceptable when compared to Rangers & sevco,

and building a cash-pile is inefficient: unused capital should be returned to shareholders,

unless you want the club sold…]

  3. Even if he signed an extension, no way was he getting 30m again after Idah, Trusty & Engels. I despise Liewell & DD but if Rodgers is leaving I can at least follow the thought process of no big outlays this summer. This is how Liewell is going to pitch this at the next AGM: ‘We knew Brendan was leaving, so we couldn’t sanction a large transfer budget as we knew the manager coming in next summer would insist on a large transfer budget to sign players he wants’. Said ‘next manager’ won’t be given said ‘large transfer budget’ but Liewell will spin that when the time comes as well.

  4. Unfortunately, I understand where the board are coming from and the problem is Rodgers.
If, as it looks likely , he will be gone next season why tie the club down to his choices for 5 years.

I think it would be better all round if he and the coaching staff left now. Better team selection and tactics and the new guy could bring in fresh ideas and backroom staff. Give us a whole new start.

    Before anyone says who?

I believe there are a lot of managers who haven’t relegated a team or be out-thought by Clement and Ferguson and would relish the chance to use Celtics vast resources for the best.

Basically anyone with a plan ‘B’

I remember during a match last season I had to switch the game off as it had got so boring it was beyond belief.

MacGregor got the ball and I knew what he was going to do with it before he did and that was turn round and pass it to CV who then, literally predictably passed it to Scales who turned round and passed it to CV who passed it to MacGregor and so it went on.

Guys like Kuhn are standing on the wing watching this nonsense and you wonder why they are happy to leave.

    1. A few things here, I always thought Rodgers wouldn’t stay beyond his deal but every manager leaves eventually so you can’t always scrap the last year and say “leave now”.
Also, Rodgers didn’t get relegated and I don’t buy this idea that Clement and Ferguson “out-thought” him (apart from the new year game).
He’s a good manager but not the only one out there. Hands up if you think John Kennedy is getting the job after Rodgers, do you still want him to go now?

    2. Charlie that is a fair point mate,I just despair the way the club is being run,if Rodgers isn’t happy with the board ,why give it another season just go and take Kennedy and Strachan with him,and before anyone says we’ve won 13 out of 14 titles of course we should have with the money disparity between us and the rest of the SPFL buti wish liewell and Nicholson and Desmond would just go and let in some fresh blood to have a real go at Europe instead of just beating SPFL dross every year, what’s the point of winning the league year in year out just to refuse to take CL seriously, Europe is where Celtic will be judged outside of parochial Scotland,no one outside of Scotland cares if Celtic win a hundred league titles it’s all Mickey mouse to outsiders.

      1. You have made the point more succinctly than I did. We have lost the Celtic way i.e. responsible non-stop attacking.

    3. I look forward to the day Rodgers leaves. We have regressed in each of the two seasons he has been back. Bring in new blood that will change the ponderous predictable play through McGregor that you mention and that will stop gaslighting us about how good certain players are.

  5. I have said it more than once, we have a board with no ambition. Until lawell and Nicholson are removed we will continue with this mediocre level!!!

  6. IF I was being very pessimistic:

was last year’s genuine ‘progress in Europe’ regarded by PL/MN as being just enough

to keep us sweet? This season is NOT going to build on that progress?

It’s a strategy the club has followed for many decades: from a position of strength

the Board ‘settles’ – rather than being ambitious and kicking-on [investing]

to try and achieve further progress…?

  7. I despise everyone on the board. Not one of them has the club’s interests at heart and I will not listen to Lawwell’s lapdogs. Lawwell is still clearly in charge ( does Nicholson actually exist ) and he hates the fact Brendan is at the club against his wishes and ego. We will never achieve more while these people are in charge.

They are only interested in the balance sheet and their bonuses. They are as far from beng Celtic fans as is possible. By the way Desmond is no better. He doesn’t own the club but thinks he knows better than those of us who bleed green blood.

    1. You are typical of the class of fan that pollutes Celtic . BR lost us a treble , Desmond has control of the club Lawell and Nicholson work under his directions , all 3 manage us superbly on the pitch and off the pitch . 27 million all but wasted last year down to one man BR
Lagerbielke and Narwoski snubbed by the arrogance of BR , Celtic lost a treble got beaten by rangers twice Aberdeen in the cup piss poor bit you sparff keek , numpty

Editor: Rangers died in 2012. I know it was heart-breaking news for Lawwell and his happy clappers. Rodgers has the highest trophy winning % in the history of Celtic, before he took over in 2016 no trebles had been won under CEO Lawwell, since then the club has won FIVE trebles.

Not a coincidence, how are things this morning over at CQN- still drooling over Tilio, Kwon and Holm?

PS Well said Jagsbhoy, always welcome on this site where freedom of thought is encouraged, but not the deluded cult followers.

  8. Editor, I think you missed the intro to the pic at the top.

Celtic FC and its supporters enemies Number 1 & 2 (3 being an Irish golfer)

  9. The way we lost the last game of the season was indicative of the season as a whole. Celtic teams of McNeil and Hay wouldn’t have lost that game.
Provan would have crossed it for McAvennie and/or Frank McGarvie (RIP) and Celtic would have won the game. As they did in the past.
I don’t think you can blame the Board for that!
In fact, the Board, give them due credit, gave the Manager the tools to achieve last season in providing funds for Idah, Kuhn and Engels. But we just didn’t rise to the ocassion like we should have! In the second half of the season we regressed more than we progressed.

  10. After beating Aberdeen 5 – 1, Celtic went into the Scottish Cup thinking they were “Home and Hosed”.
Lethargy and fatigue were debilitating factors that reduced alertness. Fit Japanese players are energetic and alert.
Remember how they played at the Qatar World Cup. The Club’s recruitment men have done Ange like transfer transactions.
and we haven’t seen Marco Tilio yet. Celtic will be a better team. No worries! Brendan and his team will enjoy this season
so much, he will want to go around again. Japanese tourists will come to Scotland and Europe to watch Celtic play.
Celtic TV (owned by Celtic shareholders) will broadcast into Japan, if the get the best Sony TV cameras. Sharpness and colour is poor. Fans spoil the pictures with pyros,

  11. John Clarke, even if Celtic enjoy the next season what are we going to achieve in Europe because that is what all football fans understand and relate to,teams doing well in the champions league, not teams bossing it in a piss poor Mickey mouse league like the SPFL,I’m sick of Celtic fans thinking all we’re here for is to beat sevco, what good is that ,we need to aim a wee bit higher than winning the SPFL,which fair enough we have to do but surely we must aim to make a name for ourselves outside parochial wee Scotland.

  12. I’m not underwhelmed by the signings, I’m not blown away by the ambition either but I am looking forward to seeing the new guys and the team looking fresh. Last season we had a great start after an impressive preseason, same again please. We’re still light in a couple of areas but there’s still time to address that.

  13. Embarrassing again by so called fans . By the time we kick off new CB , midfielder winger and CF will be purchased.
Again so called fans show they don’t like the club , prefer to talk rubbish , read unadulterated BS by so called fan bloggers
Who hate the people that have guided us to unparalleled success on the pitch off the pitch . Blaming individuals like Lawell when
There is one man who calls the shots , DD . Lawell and Nicholson work for the club under the direction of DD. But to blame dermot
Would loose support for the likes of PMG or that numpty Forrest , both of who are bigots .

Editor: That final line is the comment of ‘Celtic fan Fraser’, clearly out of his nut on happy clapping and Deludemol, his comments will be watched closely before he is escorted back to the comfort of CQN.
