Argentinian club Sarmiento have brought out a strip paying tribute to Celtic.
The Buenos Aires based club are in mid-table in Liga Professional Argentina, seven places above Racing Club.
Founded in 1911 when Scottish, English and Irish railway workers brought their sport to the country Sarmiento first adopted a green and white shirt in 1968 in recognition of the Lisbon Lions.
The Celtic shirt is unique in world football with less than a dozen variations in a sport dominated by plain tops, stripes and the colours of red and blue.
Green and white hoops are instantly recognisable.
Last year Chilean side FC Palestino released a shirt that featured the Palestine flag and referenced the Green Brigade, this season Queens Park Rangers have gone green and white for their change kit.

Celtic renewed their kit deal with Adidas during the summer, building on the record volumes recorded since the partnership started in 2020.

The founders were, as in many cases, British (Scottish) but ‘with an Irish soul’ they say in the release. In those days Irish were labelled as Brits too so often the mix of English, Scottish, Welsh and Irish railway workers gets mixed as one thing

It’s nice to hear that but it’s a chronic disgrace that Celtic supporters have to look to things like this for a wee bit of cheer. The differences between our supporters, the reason we’re universally popular, and DD and the board, and the fat slug chairman are getting ever wider annually. There’s got to come a point very soon when we all say ENOUGH and take united action to show these chancers up and then show them the door.

Re QPR , if you look up their shirt history Joe , you’ll find they wore green and white hoops from 1892 -1901 then again 1902 till 1925 … with Celtic adopting hoops from vertical stripes in 1903 .
Is there an opportunity there to initiate a union and maybe even an affiliation for the future to keep tabs on emerging Argentinian talent? Mind you, with Lawwell and Nicholson at the helm I’m thinking that would be well out of their comfort zone.
