Balikwisha says his Antwerp farewell

Michel-Ange Balikwisha said his farewells to Royal Antwerp today with Celtic assumed as his next destination.

After starting in the first dour matches of the season the left-winger was left out of the squad for today’s 2-1 victory over Mechelen.

Muscle injuries seemed to twice scupper Celtic’s hopes of signing Balikwisha last season but it now seems that he is a medical away from joining the SPFL champions.

With a year left to run on his contract Antwerp are keen to sell their star winger, Celtic’s need for options on the wing are obvious.

After losing Jota to injury it seemed incredible that Celtic sold Nicolas Kuhn without a replacement or two ready to be rubber stamped.

Brendan Rodgers has made his concerns obvious since the first pre-season friendly, a 1-0 win over Queens Park on July 4.

Balikwisha looks like signing for Celtic while his new team-mates are in Kazakhstan, by the time he joins in with training on Thursday he may be preparing for the Champions League.

Celtic’s medical team will assess the fitness of the new boy, having played four matches for Antwerp he could well be named among the substitutes for Sunday’s Glasgow Derby.

If we sign this boy I’d rather know up front who agreed price and done the scouting.
No more blame on the manager whilst the toxic board hide.

Why the fuck did these arseholes not sign him in June before pre season training? Him and any other latest signings could be the difference between qualifying or not. Or Brendan staying or not. Club is a shambles
