Jefte is apparently on his way to join Brazilian side Palmeiras, with no transfer fee mentioned in a report picked up by The Sun.
Despite splashing out the best part of £15m on the Russell Martin Revolution the 49GERS haven’t raised a cent in transfer sales.
Robin Propper got settled up to return to FC Twente while ARIS Limassol agreed to take Ross McCausland on loan for a season.
Some almost forgotten men continue to drain the payroll including Ben Davies, Rabbi Matondo, Jose Cifuentes, Clinto Nsilala, Ridvan Yilmaz, Dujon Sterling, Leon King, Robbie Fraser, Nedim Bajrami, Oscar Cortes, Danilo and Kieran Dowell.
As Russell Martin has repeated Cyriel Dessers is the only player to have attracted a bid with the first team squad now in the high thirties after nine summer arrivals including loans.
In January Chelsea were credited with keeping tabs on Jefte, after taking a closer look it seems that their interest has cooled in a full-back that can’t defend and provided four assists and one goal last season.
Now, The Sun reports:
The news of the potential transfer came as a surprise with Russell Martin seemingly keen to offload fellow left-back Ridvan Yilmaz as well.
But while Yilmaz was the one who looked set to leave Rangers out of the two, it now seems as if it will be Jefte who will be the left-back to head elsewhere first.
That’s because fresh reports out of Brazil claim the 21-year-old is one step closer to sealing a stunning move back to his homeland with Palmeiras.
According to Brazilian outlet UOL, Palmeiras have stepped up their negotiations in the last 48 hours and have now reached a verbal agreement with the player himself.
It’s said the left-back has agreed a five-year deal with the club and talks between the Brazilian outfit and Rangers are progressing well.
Palmeiras are hoping to finalise a deal by early next week, which isn’t ideal timing for the Light Blues with their huge play-off clash against Club Brugge kicking off next Tuesday.

Jefte moved to Ibrox last summer from Fluminese after being spotted by Phil Clement playing for APOEL in Cyprus, he has never made an appearance in the Brazilian League.
Any deal to take him to Palmerias is likely to be for an undisclosed fee with significant add-0ns.
Last summer Sam Lammers, Todd Cantwell, Connor Goldson, Scott Wright and Robbie McCrorie were sold for combined fees of £810,000.

Surely not Chelsea had been expected to make bids upwards of £40 million bang bangs for him.
This guy is seriously no very good.
It just goes to show, don’t believe everything you read in The Digger.
That clown Chris Jack says states on the Rangers Review that the club were hoping tae land £10 to £15 million pounds for this joker .
Sounds like he should be called Union Jack if he’s a blogger for what I’ll call The SEVCO Review Alan !
The 21yo that looks 30 ….i worked in Brazil in the early 2000”s and I know for a fact many of the poorest Brazilian families do not register the births of children for years after they are born for various reasons like state family money allowances which may affect why he is not the massive “potential “ asset the Scottish MSM make him out to be
