Celtic fans are right behind Brendan Rodgers as he drives to raise the ambition levels inside the club.
Weeks of speculation and guesswork about the future of the Irishman were laid bare today as he spoke openly about his future and more importantly the goals and targets of the club.
No-one can doubt the ambitions of the manager- last season he had Celtic going head-to-head with Bayern Munich, Atalanta and RB Leipzig but with the club preferring silence on every issue their stance is much less clear.
Rodgers is into the third and final year of his contract, at no point has it seemed that the club’s recruitment team are aligned with their manager.
With a £20m surplus from the current transfer window on top of a bank balance that was at £80m before the transfer window opened it is clear that Michael Nicholson and his boardroom chums have very different priorities to their manager.
? LISTEN: “If it’s just something to maintain then I’m not the manager for Celtic. It’ll be someone else.”
? Brendan Rodgers says he only wants to extend his stay at Celtic if they keep moving in the right ‘direction’, as he called for more signings to his squad. ?? pic.twitter.com/eu6XFrR2Ui

Rodgers will be in front of the media at least once a week before the transfer window closes, Celtic only have their network of messengers to reply to the questions from their current manager, to undermine the man going in front of the cameras.
All of the people that cheered the departure of Rodgers to Leicester City in February 2019 are still in the building, still in control even if their job titles have changed.
Unless Dermot Desmond steps in soon he will soon be required to find another manager, one that is comfortable working with limited ambition and who puts the cherished Bank Balance ahead of the Team Sheet.
Are you happy with Celtic's transfer activity
Absolutely- fantastic business
I will judge on September 1
Horrific- feels like 2023 again
Can’t blame him for not signing another deal
The people controlling Celtic ambitions are to win the league every year. They don’t care about making us the best we can be or they wouldn’t be hoarding money.
Spent over 2 decades gambling through qualifiers ?????

This Board of Directors are not Worthy to serve our Club. They are serving THEMSELVES with Bonuses and
Salaries which Far outweigh their Usefulness.— Auchinstarry (@Auchinstarry) August 1, 2025
Worded perfectly ??

Didn’t he say I’ll be here as long as they want me. Seems like the Celtic board are trying to make him leave

Losing money from the Seville campaign made Celtic decide not to prioritise Europe. Which basically means we’ve achieved all we can and will go no further.
While Lawwell is there we’ll continue to see Sevco chase European football success while we look on enviously. Despite our bank balance.
Same old celtic totally fed up with that board if they don’t back Rodgers thet won’t back any other managers who come in there a sad bunch but not shy taking the fans money if Rodgers go because of the board il not be going near celtic park again wsts the point just going round in circles when them pissed of fan.
Well done Brendan, Love your refreshing honesty, Dermot promised he would back him but there’s something seriously wrong in that boardroom
Looks like Brendan is ‘winning’ the battle of the hearts and minds…
Wouldn’t be hard against ‘Daddy’ & ‘Lucan’ though !
Rodgers never implied half of what people are thinking and Celtic supporters yet again falling for the same SMSM negative nonsense when it comes to Celtic. Every interview and press conference the same thing about players and his contract. Now where is the same negativity regarding The Rangers transfers they have not bought anyone you would be in amazement they have brought in 7 players and Celtic 7 players, there is still a month of the window left however only at Celtic its all doom an gloom.
Celtic supporters during last season not giving young players a chance thats why they are leaving, we are losing talent. Yet the same ones saying we are not buying anyone?? So is it give youth a chance or is it buy players and disregard the youth players.
Yes of course I like us all would like to see worldly players at Celtic however its not easy or simple – fee – wages – its the SPfuckingL – players / agents waiting to see if Celtic are in the UCL Proper come on its Scottish Football not much to entice great players to come to Scotland regarless of how great we think Celtic is.
So currently Celtic have Idah, Maeda, Kenny, Yamada and Osmand that can all play striker so we are not getting another striker. Yes we are a little short on the wide though we are not going to get a full replacement for Jota he is only injured and will be back, Nygren will play in the right with Forrest, Yang, Maeda and Tilio all on the wide so its is not a disaster. Midfield when on their game great and even though people seeking more dig that is not on our radar. Back up left back not going to happen until Inamura is properly assessed. CB we have more than enough.
Celtic spent around £40M last season – not much in comparison this season however we still have 1 month left of the window.
Regarding Brendan Rodgers he from day 1 has stated he will be here for 3 years so if he leaves after 3 we still go on. However there are an element of the support who desire this to happen to the can shout out ‘F**k the board’ Sack the board they chased BR out’ even if Celtic win the league next season.
The most bonkers comments are ones complaining about low bids….. seriously why the fuck does it matter how much a player costs? over £25M for Idah, Engels and Trusty. Yes we have money so fuck there is money in the bank that wont last forever especially at the rate some clueless supporters and pretence hacks would like.
On Sunday as per usual I will be celebrating yet another flag day, cheering on the team regardless of who plays and cheering Celtic on to victory.
Celtic had 1 poor season in 14 ffs, yet every season its a disaster.
Editor: That reads like a CQN editorial, where is the leadership or strategy?
The players signed last season -Schmeichel, Idah, Engels and Trusty- contributed greatly to the success in the Champions League. The fees paid are due to the negotiating skills of a sports lawyer and his accountant pal.
The CQN crew won’t go near the summer 2023 recruitment, even they know that there wasn’t a single player in there that was close to first team level. Much the same as summer 2022 and January 2023 where Alistair Johnston was the only good signing made.
The MSM are being reserved in their coverage, they know where their bread is buttered, most of the criticism is coming from social media and a few fan media websites.
I’m certainly one that doesn’t use The Scummy Scottish Football Media for sure JimtheTim !
CQN crew are idiots who know less than they think delusional I does not matter what the board do.
Summer 23 had a few promising signings who unfortunately did not suit the manager or the way we play. NO signing is a guaranteed success regardless of how much you pay. The need to suit the team style and of course the manager. Such as Yang who is actually a good footballer however is he suited to Celtic?? I say no. Yang would have a field day for the rest of the SPFL teams and suited to a team that doesnt need to break down a defense system of 10.
22-23 >> Jota, Vickers, to be honest there a loads so I think you are trying to scrape the barrel and mean the season prior. So yes lets ONLY focus on the seasons it is not brilliant. NO football team have a brilliant transfer window every time ALL football clubs will sign duds or players that just dont fit.
This issue is it suits the narrative to hate the board. To say the club that has won 14 out of 15 leagues is poorly run.
Celtic Football Club a club for ALL ‘UNLESS your opinions do not suit those from a particular group of supporters’
I think its comical that you honestly would love to see Celtic bought and sell its soul like The Rangers…. mental.
What a great start to the season! 🙁
…and totally self-inflicted.
Absolutely mental.
It’s Rengers turn to win the league this season as per the 5 way agreement.
The fact that BR has mentioned he hasn’t been approached about a new contract tells me he’s open to being approached.
I’m guessing he really does want to achieve something big at this club, but unfortunately, we have PL in the building who simply won’t allow it.
Why?
Because it involves spending his bank balance linked bonus every year or his ego simply can’t yield.
I would imagine it’s the fact that DD stepped in over PL that really really pisses him off…..that’s the real reason he’s behaving as he is….it’s not HIS man, he didn’t get to choose a “yes man”.
Total egotist that is harming the club we all love because he seems to have forgotten he is an employee not the owner.
