GLASGOW, SCOTLAND - AUGUST 19: The scoreboard reads 3-0 after 23 minutes during a UEFA Champions League Play-Offs First Leg match between Rangers and Club Brugge at Ibrox Stadium, on August 19, 2025, in Glasgow, Scotland. (Photo by Craig Foy/SNS Group via Getty Images)
Chris Sutton was on top form as Brugge raced into a 3-0 lead after just 20 minutes of tonight’s Champions League Play Off at Ibrox.
The build up focused on the myth of all those magical nights at Ibrox under the floodlights but it only took until the third minute for reality to kick in when Romeo Vermant floated in a shot from 35 yards after comic cut defending between Jack Butland and Nasser Djiga as they each left the ball for each other.
When Jorne Spileers guided a corner into the net with a well place shot from 12 yards out to put Brugge 2-0 in front the two legged tie was as good as over.
The Belgians went 3-0 in front when Brandon Mechele connected perfectly with a half volley in the 20th minute which sent hundreds of loyal bears heading to the exits.
I thought Rangers fans don’t do walking away… 20 minutes in and many have given up already…

Brugge eased up in the second half allowing Danilo to pull a goal back in the 50th minute but despite some bursts of pressure the Belgian defence held firm with Brugge always carrying a threat on the break.
Time is running out on Russell’s Revolution after just eight matches, the fans that didn’t want him appointed have the evidence in front of them that their club isn’t suited to WOKE management techniques.
The good news for Russell’s Mum is that her boy is loving every minute of his exciting adventure at Ibrox.
Next up for the 49GERS are away matches at St Mirren and Brugge before they host the SPFL champions on August 31.
Martin is excited about the opportunity his side has for the return leg and promised that they’ll never lose goals like the first two again.
Tonight’s attendance was given as 43,000.

Lest get our own game over tomorrow night
before we critise them. Only then maybe I will enjoy the laughter.
Nah…..I’m gonna enjoy the laughter m8, whilst simultaneously thinking of Keevins and all the other sycophants who will be frantically looking for the words for the morra night.
Well, that result from Ibrox has helped me deal with our atrocious transfer window. 🙂
I had a wee look on followfollow for a laugh and it didn’t disappoint. Poor Martin’s Maw if she has a look on there. They want him out already and that’s not only those who were against bringing him in in the first place.
And then this poor wee confused lamb comes out with:
“We don’t half get some rotten decisions from officials in Europe” Awwww, bless!
I predict in the next few days hun minded hacks and ex players will be everywhere trying to put a case forward that they’ll be better off in the Europa League anyway
