After losing to Ajax eight days ago Brendan Rodgers questioned the ambition of Celtic in the transfer market.
At some stage today or tomorrow a loan deal without an option to buy is expected to be announced for Jahmai Simpson-Pusey of Manchester City.
The groovy social media content is probably being edited for a teenager with 95 minutes of EPL experience over two matches.
Meanwhile Brendan Rodgers has to decide how best to deploy Daizen Maeda, James Forrest, Yang Hyun-jun and Marco Tilio on Sunday against St Mirren. Ideally the Celtic boss wants to bring on two influential wingers between 60 and 70 minutes to keep everyone fresh and match fit.
On Sunday he will have his work cut out achieving those two targets although there is always good news of exciting new signings round the corner…
Chiesa, Grealish & Sterling rumours, the board must be desperate to take the heat out of Sundays game! pic.twitter.com/ZUUoaExCXn

Rumours exactly. Not a hope in hell. We wouldn’t even pay 50k towards wages if offered

Loan deals are being rumoured with all three of those players falling badly out of favour last season with little prospect of being part of the 25/26 plans of Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool.
Other names can be expected but having banked over £20m this season the £1.5m deals for Ben Nygren and Shin Yamada are the biggest outlays that Celtic have made this summer.
The deadline to register players for the Champions League Play Offs is August 14 although two can be added by 11pm the day before the first leg.
The transfer window closes at 11pm on September 1, the day after Celtic visit Ibrox for the opening Glasgow Derby.
Definitely happening had all confirmed by a sauce

Are you happy with Celtic's transfer activity
Absolutely- fantastic business
I will judge on September 1
Horrific- feels like 2023 again

The pre-season started with an expectation that sevco would not be signing any
decent players, and scrambling about for freebies and loans.
But, the level of activity at ibrox shows up our club’s apparent lethargy about transfers-in.
[But we are certainly super efficient at getting players out!]
We go to ibrox with what we have just now or even with another couple loan deals or even nickel&dime bottom of the barrel purchases then we are getting SCUDDED,and we will deserve thst SCUDDING.
But then the transfer window will closed all the cash banked from season books and FATMAN and his buddies laugh all the way to the bank.
Meanwhile our fans will bitch just like they always do and talk a good game about getting the board out without doing Jackshit but line the boards pockets.
Then you will get others coming out and saying January transfer window will get thecmatter resolved, only for January to come and go wuth statements put out January is never the time to bring new players in,we will keep the money we would have spent in January for the Summer transfer window, only for a rinse and repeat.
Good comment Joker.
Spot on Joker,it’s just frustrating that the fans don’t see this board for what they are.
I cannot fuckin comprehend another fuckin schooling from Sevco Joker !
I smell shite , not one of those player’s will we sign as we won’t pay half their wages. Utter nonsense.
Here hairy puddin you should be hanging about with Jonnybag Green he’s another like yourself, should anyone dishout a bit of criticism to our club THAT BEING CELTIC,then your war cry is the same as Johnnybag, they are a sevco supporter.
You need to take a CHILL PILL,the language you use on here in your comments you should be BARRED.
Away hame and read your daily sevco newspaper your forever slagging that you don’t read, you’re forever telling us it’s neighbours or guys in the pub that’s buying that paper and reading it,when we all know it’s yourself.
Is that rant directed at me or James Ward Joker…
Just askin like…
Clachnacuddin and the Hoops !
Is this the first signs we are beginning to look like Sevco?
Big bling names hinted at when there isn’t a snowballs chance in hell they’ll b coming.
Is this what we are reduced to?
We don’t want bling, we don’t need bling.
We want an obvious strategy that builds season to season, even allowing for the odd big departure.
If the clubs scouting system isn’t working all year round to identify possible targets should such & such leave, therefor maintaining some form of continuity, then someone ain’t doing their job right.
Do they honestly just sit and wait till the gap appears then flick through Exchange & Mart for replacements?
We are becoming a complete laughing stock.
Becoming ??? !!!!
We already are a f***in laughing stock, bud.
I don’t, and I doubt there are many Celtic supporters who would want to see any of this trio’s sorry asses at Celtic Park on loan.
What we want, as already stated in the replies, is a structured plan of recruitment.
For the life of me, I despair when I see us loaning guys from the EPL while our academy hopefuls wave bye bye because they are being fucked over in this shambolic process the old men in suits have formulated in their cash oriented minds.
The quicker they are all in their pine heated overcoats will not come a day too soon.
I won’t add to the malaise, suffice to say I agree. It’s a joke that we still need 2 good wingers as a bare minimum – ideally a good striker too but the wingers defo. I could cope with Daizen through the middle but not Tilio and Yang. And if Daizen is on the flank, as much as I think Idah is a good impact sub, he’s less effective over 90 mins, not what we need.
Why not play some of the young lads at least in the league cup? I’d rather we got knocked out while letting them get proper game time. It would show them the intensity required at 1st team level, something they never get to experience to understand fully. And all it takes is 1 or 2 to improve enough that they can at least make the bench and a few games. All good teams have the bravery to let their youngsters develop and play some of them. We don’t. Tierney, CalMac, Jamesy….the last lot who actually made it internally and 2 of them are nearing the business end of their careers now. That’s my sole gripe with BR, he doesn’t play any of the youngsters except a few mins pre-season.
Hopefully the prospect of being called out at matches and exposed with no hiding place will convince the board to buy now. That and BR’s presser. Good to see him declare he loves it here but needs to know the board match his desire to improve, not maintain. Over to you Calm Doon
Editor: We don’t have young lads capable of stepping into the first team, now into a fifth season in the Lowland League this is killing off any chance of players developing- Broxburn Athletic, Civil Service Strollers and Cumbernauld Colts in one week…
Falkirk in the League Cup would hammer Celtic B.
