Brendan Rodgers has admitted that there are no signings imminent at Celtic.
The hoops boss has highlighted the lack of attacking options that he has following the transfers of Nicolas Kuhn and Kyogo Furuhashi with Jota out with a long term injury but those positions remain unfulfilled.
It took until the 87th minute for Celtic to breakdown St Mirren in the opening fixture with Aberdeen on Sunday expected to provide a much tougher test.

There’s no news, no, I’ve got nothing new for you. It’s very clear what we need to improve and a lot of work going on, clearly. We’re hoping that we can conclude some deals and improve the squad.
I think the board have shown over many years, numbers of years, that the work will get done. And obviously as a group that run the club and have run it so well for so many years, they have to get what they will feel is the best value for the players.
Of course, as coaches and managers and supporters, you want the best players. But ultimately the club will be running in a way that makes sure that both the best players and the best value is there to be made.
So far in the transfer window Celtic are sitting on a surplus of around £20m with no real sign of urgency to reinvest in the team.
With Rodgers in the final year of his contract the level of transfer activity can be related to the club’s eagerness to get the former Leicester City boss to extend his stay in Glasgow.
Celtic have until August 14 to register players for their Champions League Play Off tie on August 20.
New signings can be added until 11pm the night before the first leg but it is far from ideal to put a player into his debut in such a high pressure match.

This board gives me the absolute FEAR.
£40m of Champions League money on the line, not to mention being made to look like mugs by that lot managing the tribute act.
Its only difficult to make deals when you wont pay what someone is worth.
6 days to register players prior to the biggest game of the season, and we’ve done…….nothing.
Dont give me KT – he’s Taylors replacement, but we’re still a left back short.
Dont give me Nygren – a £2m midfielder, so what?
Inamura – £1.5m stayed on the bench as we chased a goal, what does that tell you?
We sign Doohan – 3rd choice, Inamura – project, Pusey – City project (id rather put time into Murray)
Sitting on a £20m surplus
Plus CL Money from last year
3 kit rotations
Plus training and baseball shirts etc.
The lack of preparation, action and such shows the board are taking Brendan and the fans for absolute mugs. Absolute mugs.
Guarantee you, if the club from Ibrokes gets in to CL, they WILL strengthen whilst Pistol Pete and his cronies sell off our crown jewels to maintain the balance sheet. This could be a long season guys, strap yourself in and be ready for the protests.
You can feel the utter joy and relief from the sport scoops when Brendan announced there are no further new recruits to welcome ! Obviously there was no ‘ high fiving ‘amongst the hacks in the actual presser , but I can envisage lots of ‘ attaboys and back slapping ‘ amongst the mainstream media pals on their way out and in the car park ? Celtic really does give that lot plenty of ammunition to clobber us with …at the drop of a hat ! They must all be chomping at the bit to attend our pressers as they are guaranteed a headline and another story which suits their agenda ….that all is not well Inside Celtic Park , so let’s tell everyone else .How many times does it take to learn the media in this country are perpetually anti Celtic ? They thrive on every piece of bad news from Celtic !
Celtic do there business for Celtic Scittish clubs have to buy players cause they are way behind Celtic we have signed 7 players renewed contracts we will buy dont let media upset balance of the club and supporters
Jack, can you please pop into a stationery store and ask for a box of commas and full stops.
They’re free.
You can use as many as you like and It helps us to understand WTF you’re actually trying to say.
Great comment jimbhoy but hardly worth the bother, the comment’s utter shite once it’s been ‘deciphered’!
Brilliant comment jimbhoy I’ve been trying to make sense of jack for years, not a full stop or comma in sight,ie a post of utter gibberish.
We’ll get two or three loan deals that include
Some big name well past it , has been 35 year old striker
A decent winger whol Rodgers will then confirm in the following presser that’s been carrying an injury and won’t be ready for 2 or 3 weeks
An 18 year old English ‘ Starlet ‘ from Grimsby or some other team
Here’s a scary thought: sevco qualifies for the CL – and we don’t ?! 🙁
Whatever happens now with transfers-in will now seem rushed, to meet the deadlines?
Shambolic.
Editor: If Celtic qualify for the CL there won’t be any worthwhile additions to the squad, at the very very best the money raised from selling players will be reinvested, highly unlikely however.
What is going on at our beloved club, something really stinks here, manager and fans being treated like fools by a few grey men in suits. I’ve had enough!!! until these charlatans are chased as far from the club as possible. Cannot take any more
Twice, in defence of the Board, he used the phrase ” best value”…. which suggests to me that the Board won’t go down the ” over-priced ” route again.

I’m trying really hard not to get too angry with that shower of arseholes on the PLC Board but the most worrying thing is the utter shite that Rodger’s is coming out with too. He should be calling them out regardless of his contract or anything else. He’s supposed to be a Celtic supporter and NO Celtic supporter with a spine could nor should sit back and let that utter scum on the Board away with sporting murder. FFS, words fail me!
TicToc 3 million a year buys a lot of loyalty to your paymasters, just saying like.
I think you need a like button on here for the comments
Thats the seats up for grabs for the qualifier why do season ticket holders not on the home ticket scheme have to pay a £1-50 booking fee same for the Falkirk game ? This scam badly needs binned. Any thoughts on this joe ?.
It’s funny how the journalist across the water is on a sponsored silence regarding getting the dirt on Liewell and Co,as he is always bragging about having a man inside at Cektic Park for the up to date shenanigans,as well an inside man at ibrox.
The guys a FAKE,he ain’t broke any news stories from either club for months.
Infact Jackass Jackson is more in the know than him.
Phil broke the one about the tax men who came up from London . All your mob were caught out then.
Whitvyou on about Scousebhoy,he’s been dining out on that fir years,a bit like Tony Watt with that goal against Barca, all those years ago.
Once again DAFTIE in our support having a go at my post for telling some home truths, lol and once again I’m accused of being a Hun.
That’s what’s wrong with our club,to many BENNYS in it just like sevco,Liewell and Nicholson love dafties like you.
KERCHING £££££££’s,now give the club your cash and go and sit at the back of the bus.
Rodgers has had a tongue in cheek dig at the board with the last paragraph. He can’t really do much else as a football man who wants another job after this one as no board likes an unpredictable coach. The other big one that showed this board up is the Go Ahead Eagles guy openly laughing at them and praising the Huns. We had the chance to bury the huns and now they’re stuffing us on and off the park. It will get to the stage nobody will do business with us.
A Dutch Orange Bastard sticking up for Scottish Orange Bastards then !
ted the ned, no one needs to be wearing a mcewans lager top for me to suss them out . i have been on this earth long enough now and i can tell your lot out no problem. your club ceased to exist.
