John Lundstram, dubbed the best midfielder on earth just three years ago has joined Hull City.

The self-style hardman enjoyed three seasons of failure in Scottish football, winning one Scottish Cup medal despite expectations that he would pure boss it after arriving at Ibrox in the summer of 2021.

Beyond a scary stare there was little of substance to Lundstram who often appeared to be towing a caravan as he toiled in the Scottish league.

Phil Clement saw through the hype, offering a derisory contract in the spring of 2024 leaving Lundstram as a free agent.

Trabzonspor snapped up Lundstram and Borna Barisic last summer with the midfielder making 32 SuperLiga appearances before the Turks decided to cut their losses by sending him on loan to Hull.

Hull finished last season in 21st place in the Championship, avoiding relegation on goal difference.

At the age of 31 big John should be strolling it in the Championship and able to join Kenny Macintyre and the lads on Radio Scotland to reminisce about his glory days at Ibrox.

Joe McHugh has edited Video Celts since 2010, every day covering events in and around Scotland's most successful club.

When a six year stretch at the Sunday Mirror came to an end it was clear that the future was digital, print had ran its race.

Smart phones and social media created a new landscape, Video Celts has certainly made an impact with Joe described as having an unhealthy obsession by Peter Lawwell at the 2024 Celtic AGM. A priceless endorsement.

There are issues breaking around the clock, no two days are the same. More than 50 years on from his first match Joe is enjoying the ongoing successes of Celtic.

The gurning Merseyside will always remembered for his telling and decisive ‘double-tap’ contributions to the Derby game – the OG followed by the red card! Might receive a warmer welcome in Bairds than the Louden if he ever came back up!

Lunstram in that photo above reminds me of a Glasgow gangster, just can’t put a name to it though.
