Brendan Rodgers faces another couple of difficult media conferences today, dancing around the lack of transfer activity for the second week running.
Last Friday the hoops boss made it clear that he was the wrong guy if Celtic wanted a continuity manager to stand still rather than push forward and strive for greater success.
Jahmai Simpson-Pusey was discussed in detail last Friday, on Tuesday Celtic were delighted to announce that the teenage defender had been signed on a season long loan from Manchester City.
Highlighting the frustrations of spending £3m to prepare for a Champions League Play Off the Everything Celtic Twitter account dug deep to see where Celtic rate among European clubs in the spending stakes.
Celtic are ranked 197th so far this summer for outgoings in football after spending around £3M.

While barely making it into the top 200 of spending clubs no-one can accuse Celtic of being slow in the transfer market- when it comes to selling players.
A deal to sell Nicolas Kuhn was agreed with Como at the start of July with Gus Lagerbielke taking transfer business to around £20m topped up by around £2.5m from Bayer Leverkusen after they sold Jeremie Frimpong to Liverpool.
Celtic’s spending consists of splashing out for Ben Nygren, Hayato Iamura and Shin Yamada.
Money shouldn’t really be a problem for Celtic with the bank balance probably sitting between £80-100m at the end of June.
Simpson-Pusey looks like the only new face in the squad to face Aberdeen on Sunday leaving Rodgers with just one more match, at home to Falkirk in the League Cup, to prepare for the Champions League Play Off tie on August 20.
This isn’t saying Celtic have to spend big, O’Riley, Maeda & Hatate were all under £2M.
This is merely to display the complacency that has gone in to the window, rather than being aggressive & pushing to sign the right players we’re gambling deals present themselves to us.

Are you happy with Celtic's transfer activity
Absolutely- fantastic business
I will judge on September 1
Horrific- feels like 2023 again

Whether they prove to be good signings or not…Sevco have , at least, gone and done the business by bringing in potentially good players…despite having a load of dross they can’t get rid of…That just makes our situation worse in my opinion…But the Board don’t care.
This board are an embarrassment!! All the while trying to tell us we are world class in everything we do and a top champions team. The only thing we are good at is selling our best players. A board with no ambition!!
Surely to f*ck they can’t have that much of a brass neck that they’re not embarrassed by what that Go Ahead Eagles guy is coming out with ?
Sevco Board – Any day of the week…
It’s just their gaffers keep blowing it on the wrong guys…
But nobody can say that they (The Sevco Board) didn’t give it !
