Trinity Tims and the Celtic Blame Game

|

The latest edition of the Trinity Tims podcast again highlighted Celtic’s pathetic efforts in the transfer window.

Against St Mirren in the SPFL Premiership opener there were only two summer signings on the pitch, Kieran Tierney’s deal had been agreed in January with Ben Nygren making a quietly effective debut in midfield.

It is unfair to expect instant fireworks from new signings, we had a Swedish internationalist making his debut in Scottish football in a match where his club had 74% possession while Don Robertson delivered a uniquely Scottish interpretation of the Laws of the Game.

Any further new signings are going to be thrown in at an even deeper end with two matches to go until the Champions League Play Off on August 20.

The amateur hour approach to the Transfer Window is running in tandem with the clock running down on Brendan Rodgers’ contract.

With every passing match, media conference and day of failure in the Transfer Window it looks less likely that the Irishman will be interested in extending his stay.

And there was also some hilarity over how a Soccer Hipster reacted in media interviews after the 1-1 draw away to Motherwell.

Joe McHugh has edited Video Celts since 2010, every day covering events in and around Scotland's most successful club.

When a six year stretch at the Sunday Mirror came to an end it was clear that the future was digital, print had ran its race.

Smart phones and social media created a new landscape, Video Celts has certainly made an impact with Joe described as having an unhealthy obsession by Peter Lawwell at the 2024 Celtic AGM. A priceless endorsement.

There are issues breaking around the clock, no two days are the same. More than 50 years on from his first match Joe is enjoying the ongoing successes of Celtic.
