After registering with Companies House Celtic Supporters Limited has created a website aimed at providing supporters with greater influence in the running of the club.
Led by Duncan Smillie, David Low and Peter McGowan the aim is to trace and activate dormant shares in the club which could account for as much as 20% of the shares in the club.
Despite their dominant position in Scotland there is growing unrest among the Celtic support at the way the club is being run and the failures to develop in line with similar or smaller sized clubs across Europe.
That disillusionment has created the Celtic Fans Collective, with Celtic Supporters Limited being launched there is a new energy among the support as opposed to the sameness on the Board where Brian Wilson and Tom Allison have both served as NEDS for over 20 years.
CEO Michael Nicholson has only given one media interview in four years in the role, that level of communication really isn’t acceptable when the club has a number of platforms to get the message across to supporters.
Recently Smillie, Low and McGowan tried to become involved with The Celtic Trust but pulled out with CSL clearly their alternative option.
Celtic Supporters Limited aim to provide a series of high profile marketing events, on their website they lay out their intentions:
CSL is a vehicle for shareholders, season ticket holders and supporters of Celtic Football Club to unite around and to articulate a collective view to the Board of directors of Celtic plc on matters of importance concerning our football club. We are a professional organisation with high standards of governance.
We seek to influence the future direction of our club and to protect the interests of all stakeholders. We aim to ensure our collective voice is heard.
We are not a protest movement. CSL is a company limited by guarantee and registered in Scotland. It does not have shareholders. It’s directors will be elected by its members in general meeting.
All members have one vote each. All members are equal.
With Celtic due to host their AGM in November there is greater scrutiny than ever on the way that the club is run behind the scenes.
While that is going on there is all the issues on the park led by Brendan Rodgers being in the final nine months of his contract with no offer being made for a new deal.
On Saturday Celtic play their first home match since the transfer window closed with plenty of attention on the reaction of supporters as well as on the park.

Hi Joe,
Could you explain how this is different from the Celtic Trust? Is there a danger these two organisations will undermine each other? Why did David Low et al not join the Celtic Trust?
Also, will this new company work in conjunction with the Celtic Fans Collective? Or will there be no articulation between these two organisations?
I’m worried that if a number of groups are formed to represent the views of the fans it will dilute the power of the fans’ voice.
