It is fair to say that the Daily Record is obsessed by Russell Martin as they try to get the current Ibrox boss sacked.

Barry Ferguson is a columnist at the Glasgow based publisher and a long standing friend of the award winning Keith Jackson.

Since Saturday’s defeat at home to Hearts the Record has set up their LIVE BLOG where they drag in the most contrived content to pretend that things are happening towards their desired outcome.

On Sunday evening they added the claim that ‘Martin is on the brink’, three days later nothing has changed with the former SCOTLAND defender preparing for Saturday’s League Cup tie at home to Hibs.

Despite being born in Brighton he qualified to play for Scotland through his father, earning 29 full international caps between 2011 and 2019.

In today’s Record Robbie Copeland attempted to change Martin’s nationality.

As if this week wasn’t going badly enough for the Gullible & Deluded it seems that Jose Mourinho is close to joining Benfica.

The Record could of course interpret that as a ‘come and get me plea’ to Paddy Stewart but there are no genuine signs that Martin is about to get the pay off for the remainder of his contract.

Neil McCann is the most obvious candidate putting himself forward for the job but he will face competition for the job from David Martindale and Neil Warnock with a return to traditions the likely follow up to the doomed Martin Revolution.

Joe McHugh has edited Video Celts since 2010, every day covering events in and around Scotland's most successful club.

When a six year stretch at the Sunday Mirror came to an end it was clear that the future was digital, print had ran its race.

Smart phones and social media created a new landscape, Video Celts has certainly made an impact with Joe described as having an unhealthy obsession by Peter Lawwell at the 2024 Celtic AGM. A priceless endorsement.

There are issues breaking around the clock, no two days are the same. More than 50 years on from his first match Joe is enjoying the ongoing successes of Celtic.

  • Bob (original) says:

IF indeed, the Americans have told Paddy that any termination costs for Martin have to

be offset – somewhere – within their current financial planning, then they only have 2

    options:

    1) try and force Martin to resign, with the SMSM and supporters doing the dirty work

to crank up the personal abuse and pressure to intolerable levels,

[and with a smaller payoff to negotiate / delay ?]

    or

    2) the Board members just have to keep their heads down,

    – and let Martin get on with it, regardless?

    I’m going for option 1) 🙂

Don’t you find it disgraceful when the daily Record will be making some journalists’ jobs redundant that it is leading the campaign for Russell Martin to lose his at theRangers? What kind of morals are practised at that ailing obsolete rag where it will take a major part in someone losing their livelihood and then be seen to rejoice in the celebrations ? Dusty fence menders ……

  • Harold Shand says:

It’s now panic stations at the Daily Record

Their hotline live is a great watch

One hour of assorted hun hacks taking turns to vent their spleen

That laddie McDermott’s head looks like it’s going to explode

  • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

I would watch but they probably get cash for it – So not a snowballs chance in hell of that happening…

I’d rather kick the bucket in whatever way good or gruesome or anything else in between than financially support these Scummy Bastards at The Scummy Record !
