Barry Ferguson has claimed that none of his former Ibrox management team has made any criticism of Russell Martin!
After being binned at the end of last season Ferguson, Neil McCann and Billy Dodds were welcomed with open arms back into their old media gigs.
Five matches into the SPFL season only Aberdeen are below the Ibrox Tribute Act with the Champions League campaign ending with a 9-1 defeat from Club Brugge.
Everything about Martin has been criticised across the media where Ferguson, McCann and Dodds have multiple friends at work.
Over the last 10 days the Daily Record has tried every possible angle to get rid of Martin with Ferguson happy to contribute a weekly column.
Today in the Record Ferguson claims:
When Brendan Rodgers was critical of me and my staff the other day I must admit I was surprised to hear what was said.
He was asked if he had sympathy for Russell Martin and, in his answer, somehow ended up talking about comments made by the guys who were in his shoes previously.
I couldn’t see any reason for it. It just felt a bit odd coming from a man of his experience.
It felt very much like a deflection tactic.
If I had been asked the same sort of question I would simply have shut it down on the basis that it’s not my job to comment or concentrate on what’s happening at another club.
Celtic have obviously got their own internal issues at the moment and that’s not my concern.
But the one thing I would stress is that it hasn’t diminished my respect for him as an excellent, successful manager.
But I do feel I also have to make it clear that what he said was wrong. Neither myself, Neil McCann nor Billy Dodds have said anything disrespectful about Russell Martin or what’s been going on at Rangers this season.
McCann has been non-stop highlighting the failings of Martin and how he would do things differently, how he would do it better.
Whether on Sportscene, Premier Sports or sitting with Kenny Macintyre on Sportsound McCann has been non-stop in putting himself forward as the next manager.
Ferguson and his chums will soon be in the spotlight with the hate campaign from the Union Bears against Russell Martin not distracted by a home win over Hibs.
To be fair, Brendan should focus on Celtic. I understand he’d want to show fellow feeling to another manager, but imho he over-stepped talking about the previous incumbents at Sevco.
Rubbish.
Was ferguson not sacked at kelty hearts and the other mouthpiece sacked at Dundee the three stooges older people will mind who they were.
There’s been previous managers sacked in Scotland and Brendan invited them to Celtic Park to watch him training his player to help in any way he can.
Not just Brendan. I remember when Tommy McLean had been out of work for a while, Tommy Burns brought him in to do a bit of training ground work with his Celtic team just to keep him involved. You can’t really see a former Celtic player being welcomed to Murray Park or whatever they call it now to do the same somehow.
The Three Stoogies are happy to criticise Martin, but whine when they’re conduct is scrutinised. It’s okay for pundits to criticise managers but these guys appear to be after his job. I for one think Brendan is right to highlight their actions.
Liar, liar, pants on fire! We live in a post-truth world where just denying things there is an incontrovertible record of you doing or saying is now regarded as normal. McCann’s behaviour in particular has been appalling in that his supposedly balanced punditry has been tantamount to openly calling for Russell Martin to be sacked and dog-whistling for his own return to iBrox even if it’s just him this time because wee Barry of the armband is totally scunnered wi’ it and winnae go back. The BBC in particular – “because of the unique way in which it is funded” – should have questions to answer over giving platforms to such disgruntled pundits with axes to grind.
Jackson writing up this to back up his wee pal
The funny thing is
Rodgers never even mentioned any of these gimps names
Ferguson and his cohorts would not know what the truth looked like.
The 3 bigots don’t like being criticised, but like to criticise Russell Martin, showing their complete and utter hypocrisy.
Russell is a far better human being than they could ever hope to be and it will take time, but he will take Sevco on a newer and more healthy course. The hate and bigotry that fill that stadium needs to be exorcised, as it is evil, and it is refreshing to see someone there who has a positive outlook along with the new board. I hope they back Russell to the hilt and in time we may have genuine and fair competition from them, with a respect which extends both way.
We have had the poison emanating from the stands and from previous Ibrox managers and idiots like Ferguson et al for long enough.
