Back in March, Hugh Keevins got an early morning call from a very angry Peter Lawwell.
The Celtic chairman was upset about content in Keevins’ column in the Sunday Mail relating to Celtic transfer activity.
Lawwell was quickly on the job to set the record straight, the Chairman had no influence on Celtic transfer policy, an allegation made by a caller to Radio Clyde and repeated on the pages of the Sunday Mail.
A few weeks later Keevins was in apologetic mode in the Sunday Mail, taken aback by the anger of the call from the hoops Chairman, he informed Record readers:
Let me make it abundantly clear at this point that Celtic chairman Peter Lawwell has absolutely nothing to do with the club’s transfer business. In or out.
I know this for a fact because I had to get out of bed a few weeks ago to take a call from him early one Sunday morning.
Peter was irate because of something I had written in that day’s column.
Not a personal opinion of mine, I have to say, but a reference to a fan on the radio having alleged that the chairman’s hand was “all over” Celtic’s transfer strategy.
The wrongly accused chairman assured me, in no uncertain terms, this was inaccurate nonsense. I happily repeat his stance here while stating that whoever is responsible for sourcing new players needs to get the finger out.
Last Friday The Sun carried explosive claims about Brendan Rodgers, given to Roger Hannah from a source close to senior figures at Celtic.
Apparently they are very angry at Rodgers trying to engineer his exit, that fear can be discounted after today’s media conference from the highly successful Celtic boss.
Strangely there seems to be no enthusiasm from inside Celtic to identify who has been briefing against Rodgers.
Had the story been fabricated action would have been taken against The Sun, on the day that they published the story they were at the Celtic legends match interviewing Joe Hart and Charlie Mulgrew.
With Michael Nicholson in his favoured mute position the responsibility falls on Lawwell to back Rodgers and drive the person making cowardly attacks on the manager out of Celtic Park.
Only Lawwell knows why he hasn’t intervened while his manager is being trashed by a colleague afraid to voice his issues face to face with Rodgers.
The snake knows exactly who’s responsible for the brief.
A quick look in any mirror widny be long identifying the guilty party.
If PL seen a shark when swimming, he’d be cutting weans and throwing them behind him to save himself.

Oh, I’ve thoughts for Lawwell alright, just as I’ve thoughts for Trump, Netanyahu, Putin, Desmond and others of their ilk, just as I’ve had for Thatcher and Blair. Aye, I’ve thoughts for him alright but I think they’ll be the polar opposite of what you suggest.

At Celtic Park there’s a bad atmosphere in the boardroom and it’s not just the usual stench of boiled cabbage coming from Lawwell. Recently the stale, musty smell from the aged chairman and his eau de colon hasn’t been the only miasma to reach the noses of the executives.
Peter’s free speech can kick up a stink at the best of times but he has surpassed himself whiff this honker, he’s revealed himself to be a bad egg, making a big noise by blowing off lies to the press that Rodgers is a disruptive influence at the club and trying to engineer his exit.
Everyone has gotten wind of it with the manager catching the blast full in the face. Knowing fine well that the accusations don’t amount to a hill of beans, Rodgers is entitled to call for an investigation to root out the dirty, yellow-bellied, double-crossing, stinking rat. During Brendan’s first term similar emissions were leaked out, so there is no doubt Lawwell is the culprit. Brendan mentioned during the press conference he’s having clear the air talks with Nicholson to discuss the situation. If Peter the skunk Lawwell were to be persuaded to retire, it would be a breath of fresh air for everyone!
