A worrying rumour has surfaced on the Kerrydale Street Forum suggesting that Adam Idah warmed an Irish internationalist away from joining Celtic.
Footballers are generally portrayed as being cold and distant to the emotions of fans, happy to hold the scarf aloft when signing, kissing the badge then disappearing in the night to the next location and repeating the process.
Joining Celtic was seen as some sort of dream move, he made history delivering all three domestic trophies in his first 12 months before it all went wrong in 2025.
Led by a scathing personal attack from a reporter very close to the decision maker inside Celtic suddenly there was a pile on off abuse as Idah, Auston Trusty and Arne Engels were highlighted as the reasons that Celtic weren’t prepared to invest properly in the transfer market.
Every two-bob expert was on the theory to reflect their In The Know status with Keith Jackson and Kris Boyd on-board with the campaign.
It isn’t much fun knowing that you are being undermined from within a club, while preparing for a Champions League Play Off tie Idah was the target for fan anger while Michael Nicholson was trying to get him sold- against the wishes of his manager.

How happy are you with Celtic's summer 2025 transfer business?
Wonderful- great business completed
Horrific- changes must now be made
Chiedozie Ogbene is a Nigeria born international team-mate of Idah, as a 28-year-old right winger he moved on Deadline Day on loan to Sheffield United from Ipswich Town. He played his youth soccer and GAA in Cork, where Idah grew up.
With his profile it would be a surprise if Ogbene wasn’t considered by Celtic during the transfer window, if that happened the natural reaction would be a call to Idah to see what things are like.
On the outside joining the league champions with a Champions League Play Off and guaranteed European football would be appealing, underneath less so.
All of the players will be aware of the battles Brendan Rodgers was putting in to strengthen the squad while Nicholson was looking to sell players off to achieve his bank balance targets.
The players and their agents know that Rodgers will be leaving at the end of this season, the atmosphere inside the club will be awkward with supporters lining up to vent their anger at the board with matchday protests expected.
It isn’t the sort of set up that you would uproot yourself for, having spent three seasons at Rotherham it is easy to see why Sheffield United is an easier option for Ogbene’s career even if life at Brammel Lane is far from perfect with just one point from the first four matches of the season.
Idah’s NDA on leaving Celtic will ensure that none of the detail in his move becomes public beyond it being a great challenge to join an ambitious Championship club.
The Trinity Tims podcast will be back tonight at 6pm with a post Transfer Window special edition.
It’s OK though – we now have a free agent in at the last possible second. He has a scoring record that makes Idah look like Gerd Muller. Leaving your Xmas shopping until the 24th means you end up with the last turkey in the shop. Bravo Michael, bravo.
We will look back on this transfer window and say that was when the Banter years changed hands and now it’s sevco’s turn for the Banter years and we are the club who keeps giving.
If Adam Idah did warn off an Irish international it would be based on his own experience. Despite a Cup Final goal and scoring at Ibrox the notorious boo boys of our support vilified him because he lost form. Peter Grant had it, Jamsie had it. Are we really the best supporters in the world with these types, they are actually undermining our players snd doing work for the media and our opponents.
Totally agree Bif;
You can blame the likes of P67 and the other board shills on CQN for assisting in the lowering of morale at the club regarding certain players seen to be the responsibility of Brendan Rodgers.
There has been a sneaky snidey campaign going on for a while now aimed at undermining the manager by these old duffers and Holy Willies, with Lawwell presiding in the background.
Celtic supporters my arse. (although you’re not allowed to say arse on CQN.)
Fuck cqn
Bye bye.
The mood of the camp is low after the disastrous failure of the D-day signings. Commandant Michael ‘Nicht Sprechen’ Nicholson has again made a Reich Rudolf Hess of negotiating POW in and out transfers. Under orders from Der ‘Führer’ Desmond and Hermann ‘sitzen Sie fest’ Lawwell, Commander Rodgers had his rations confiscated for showing too much ambition and is to spend the rest of his internment in isolation. Propaganda aimed at his allies Engels and Trusty is a ploy to ransom them. There’s empty bunks in Hut Eleven, Kyogo, Kuhn and Idah escaped in plain sight of the bribed guards. Yang got tangled up in the barbed wire and failed the escape. The Red Cross are regularly attending to Tierney and casualties Jota and Johnston are in hospital. Sub standard replacements have been made. Meanwhile the Huns under herr Martain are making progress on the battlefield. Not a lot to write home about.
