Anthony Joseph has delivered more of a holding statement than an update on who will be next to manage Celtic.
Former managers and Irishmen are always linked. Twice Neil Lennon and Brendan Rodgers have been appointed.
Soon after news emerged that Rodgers had resigned three names came to the fore. Ange Postecoglou, Kieran McKenna and Kjetil Knutsen.
After three jobs in just over four years in the UK it seems that Postecoglou is taking time out. That phrase usually ends a soon as an appealing job is offered.
Nottingham Forest was brief and bruising for Postecoglou. Especially so after the dramatic ending to his two seasons and one trophy count with Spurs.
McKenna has an impressive body of work including two promotions and an EPL relegation from three seasons with Ipswich Town.
There could be an EPL move coming his way if he can get Ipswich back closer to the top of the Championship.
A move to Celtic is a future possibility but with no experience of the Scottish game a mid-season switch seems unlikely.
UPDATE: Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna insists he is fully committed to his current job, but stopped short of ruling himself out of the running for the Celtic managerial vacancy.

Knutsen is the coach that fans of almost every club across Europa wants to poach away from Bodo.
Through the drive of one man a provincial Norwegian side has reached the semi-final of the Europa League and are now in the Champions League for the first time. The stuff of dreams. Definite progress.
Knutsen is out of contract in December, one day he may leave Bodo but after 348 matches i charge he doesn’t appear ready to move on.

What has Eldraco got to say about John Aloisi?
John would make a great fist of the job as coach. No doubt. Right now though ? Perhaps get that euro experience then a step up. Good tactician great motivator, plays good attacking football.
I’m not sure about mckenna being ready for celtic. Especially with the big buy out. Robbie Keane an interesting choice?
Editor: Keane, Robbie would be an incredible appointment. Fail to read the room? Bring in Nir Bitton as his assistant or player coach? Not a chance.
…but it’s OK to have a bigamist as manager.
Because he managed maccabi tel aviv rules him out. Looks like he has done well in management plus been about the top end of football all his days. Pity.
We talk about the board not being forward thinking enough, some of the names being mentioned just prove the fans are as bad.
The Brugge manager, could be a great option, but why on earth would he give up a progressive club like the one he’s at to come to the insular, static and immovable board that runs ours?
Our board would stifle the living daylights outta Guardiola ffs.
Whoever does come in, comes in with one hand tied behind his back before a baw is kicked.
Get an Italian. Any Italian! (apart from Gatuso!) They know the game inside out!
We’ed have our best chance of progress in Europe and they’d wipe away Scottish teams.
They are serious about their football!
None of the names mentioned so far are a natural fit.
But an Italian? They’d all know we were serious then!
Hands off The Legenderry Strabane man Connor (Gethins) at The Mighty Clachnacuddin !!!
