Just before 9.30 on Sunday night Sky Sports News released the yellow ticker that all Ibrox fans had been hoping for- hipster Russell Martin is to be sacked.
After 17 matches in charge the axe is set to fall on the majolr appointment made by the club’s new American owners during the summer.
After seven rounds of interviews David Ancelotti opted out leaving the former Southampton boss to take over from Phil Clement after a short stint as interim boss for Barry Ferguson.
Martin was his usual arrogant, smug self after today’s 1-1 draw away to Falkirk but the mood changed after the final whistle.
Angry fans trapped the team bus outside the stadium before Martin got on, instead he was given a police escort out the other side with horses guarding the car as he drive away from what proved to be his last match in charge.

With eight points from seven matches the next boss faces a tough task as the club reverts to the traditional autumn change of manager after allowing Phil Clement to stay on until February.
In less than a year as CEO Paddy Stewart will have dealt with manager number four after inheriting Phil Clement then working with Ferguson and Martin.
With an international break coming up the club has some time to get a new management team in place with the staunch squad assembled by Barrry Ferguson the obvious solution although the former Kelty boss recently said that he wouldn’t return as a caretaker.
For James Tavernier, Jack Butland and John Souttar it will be yet another new manager to deal with, unfortunately for Martin he couldn’t even conjure up the traditional new manager bounce.
While Celtic struggle for form Brendan Rodgers can add another Ibrox boss to his CV having previously seen off Mark Warburton, Pedro Caixinha, Graeme Murty, Micky Beale and Clement over his two stints at Celtic.
The Ferguson bandwagon will be in full force overnight with the Daily Record preparing a special edition for their army of readers to push their man back up the marble staircase.

Still can’t see the Yanks wanting to sack / pay anyone off?
What about some sort of compromise?
An ex-‘Rangers legned’ coming in to assist Martin?
Purely a PR ploy to buy some time….?
Personally, I think Martin is doing a tremendous job. 🙂
Just seen a video of an old Hun threatening Russel Martin’s life. Told people To post it on Facebook
