Barry Ferguson is way too dignified to put pressure on Russell Martin, the club ambassador just doesn’t do that sort of thing.

Barry Ferguson produces a weekly column for the Daily Record, he is such a perfectionist that his pal Keith helps him out with spelling and grammar to make sure his thoughts come over clearly

For the second time in the last month the Record is running their ‘Martin on the brink’ live blog as they dredge up anything remotely linked to Ibrox in the hope that Martin gets sacked at some point soon.

It is a pitiful attempt at gaining traffic and an attempt to force the agenda although it seems that Andrew Cavenagh is the first Ibrox Chairman that doesn’t treat the ailing Glasgow publisher with reverence.

The LIVE! blog was revived after the defeat to Sturm Graz, since then entirely manufactured links to Sean Dyche, Rafa Benitez, Steven Gerrard and Kevin Muscat have been discussed and reported.

With Coventry leading 5-0 away to Sheffield Wednesday yesterday the Record flew the flag for Frank Lampard.

Listening in to Billy Dodds on BBC Sportsound yesterday was an obvious source of content, excusing the poor level of grammar the Record went with.

Billy Dodds has field a “naughty” question on Russell Martin’s Rangers future.

NOTE: That should be fielded.

The former Ibrox assistant – who was part of Barry Ferguson’s interim team – was put on the spot by Kenny MacIntyre on BBC who asked if Hearts would finish above the Light Blues:

Dodds replied with

I sound so bitter if I say they shouldn’t stick with Russell Martin.

Why would you even ask that question?

That is as naughty as it comes, Kenny.

And so they continue, desperate for dropped points, to twist every comment from Martin all with the aim of getting Ferguson installed during the international break, the sooner the better.

Ferguson, Dodds and Neil McCann haven’t been near areal job in football since emptying their lockers at Murray Park in May after finishing 17 points behind a Celtic side in third gear.

Between them their managerial experience covers Alloa Athletic, Clyde, Dundee and Inverness Caley Thistle.

There is an unwritten rule that former managers and coaches steer clear of their former club for a season or two to give their successor a fair crack of the whip.

Clearly the Ibrox trio have absolutely no respect for a manager under pressure, when Allan McGregor emerges as the figure of dignity it really is time to take stock.

When a six year stretch at the Sunday Mirror came to an end it was clear that the future was digital, print had ran its race.

Smart phones and social media created a new landscape, Video Celts has certainly made an impact with Joe described as having an unhealthy obsession by Peter Lawwell at the 2024 Celtic AGM. A priceless endorsement.

There are issues breaking around the clock, no two days are the same. More than 50 years on from his first match Joe is enjoying the ongoing successes of Celtic.
