Celtic and Adidas are gearing up for the launch of a premium (expensive) lifestyle apparel range.

Judging by recent events including the leaked details from last night’s meeting with Michael Nicholson and Chris McKay there is likely to be a lot of hostility and opposition to what is clearly expected to be easy pickings from Celtic supporters.

Celtic and Adidas first came together in 2020, it was a partnership that many fans had dreamed off with anything from the club stamped by Adidas selling in huge volumes.

Truth be told there has been no stand out strips during the five years of the contract with the 24/25 stained glass look attracting plenty of criticism.

Based on those volumes a new 10 year deal was agreed with Celtic promoted into the elite group of Adidas clubs getting special releases and other benefits.

Late this morning Footy Headlines reported:

Adidas is set to release a series of highly anticipated Spezial collections for three of its top UK clubs: Newcastle United, Aston Villa, and Celtic. All three clubs have begun teasing the collaboration, confirming a launch date of 16 October 2025.

Building on the heritage-focused aesthetic of the Adidas Spezial line, we can expect each club’s collection to feature a range of premium lifestyle apparel. This will likely include a retro-inspired jersey, a track top/jacket, a hoodie, and other accessories.

A centerpiece of each collection will almost certainly be a unique Adidas SPZL trainer, customized in each club’s iconic colors and featuring collaborative branding.

This move follows a similar, highly successful project from last year. In October 2024, Adidas released popular Spezial collections for Leeds United, Nottingham Forest, and Aberdeen. The new drop with Newcastle, Villa, and Celtic shows this is becoming an annual tradition for select Adidas clubs with a strong heritage and passionate fanbase.

The Adidas Spezial collections for Newcastle United, Aston Villa, and Celtic will all be released next week, on Thursday, October 16, 2025.

The Celtic account manager at Adidas is likely reviewing an unexpected downturn in sales during September, some claim that business in certain areas could be down by as much as 50%.

Ahead of Monday’s meeting the Celtic Fans Collective called off the planned silences at the matches against Braga and Motherwell.

If the leaked reports from last night’s meeting are accurate then further action against the club is likely with a call to boycott merchandise sales a likely option.

During the summer there were six different Adidas releases with the latter ones given low key treatment on social media by the club.

Adidas expect full co-operation in exchange for their multi-million pound contracts, whatever the plans are for October 16 the social media reaction to the premium lifestyle apparel is likely to be overwhelmingly hostile from Celtic fans.

Minutes from last night’s 6pm meeting have still to be released with a comment from the Celtic Fans Collective expected this afternoon.

Should the Celtic Fans Collective call for a full boycott of merchandise?

When a six year stretch at the Sunday Mirror came to an end it was clear that the future was digital, print had ran its race.

Smart phones and social media created a new landscape, Video Celts has certainly made an impact with Joe described as having an unhealthy obsession by Peter Lawwell at the 2024 Celtic AGM. A priceless endorsement.

There are issues breaking around the clock, no two days are the same. More than 50 years on from his first match Joe is enjoying the ongoing successes of Celtic.

I’m surprised there’s just the 18 lurking huns voting for us to keep spending our money on this overpriced crap…I would’ve expected more but then they don’t have the own problems to seek…fuds.

It seems that MN is only admitting to a deficiency in fan engagement?!

He and McKay had their chance to offer something, but apparently chose not to do even that?

A drop in merchandise spend now, would get Adidas / the Board a bit concerned

about their projected Christmas merchandise revenues?

Something significant has to happen before the AGM, to catch the Board’s attention?

Off topic but….did anyone at the meet on Monday ask why the manager as yet hasn’t even been offered a new contract even tho he has basically said he would sign in the right circumstances?
I mean, surely even our board recognise a winner when they see one?
The next question after that should be, if you aren’t gonna offer him a contract, what top manager do you have lined up to replace him?
Looks to me as though there weren’t many uncomfortable questions asked at all.
