Alone among the Celtic support it seems that Daizen Maeda’s last gasp goal against Motherwell didn’t go down well with Peter Lawwell.
All around the club Chairman fans were celebrating but one man in the centre of the Directors Box seemed to take it rather badly, looking frustratingly at his mobile phone then scornfully to his right towards the area where the Green Brigade were celebrating.
To most fans there is no greater pleasure in football than a last minute or stoppage time winning goal, having trailed 2-1 after 56 minutes the joy and relief around Celtic Park was obvious as Maeda stooped low to head a cross from Michel-Ange Balikwisha into the Motherwell net.
Even Michael Nicholson got out of his seat, perhaps without permission from his boss but alongside him Lawwell sat slumped looking a picture of misery.
Against Braga on Thursday Lawwell had to be careful with the cameras of TNT Sport watching his every move, against Motherwell Celtic TV were never going to go near the Directors Box but there are plenty of digital cameras with zoom lens looking in one direction.
After being posted missing from three successive away matches the Celtic Chairman turned up for the matches against Hibs, Braga and Motherwell, the match against Hibs was his first public appearance since enjoying a free lunch watching Kairat Almaty appearing in the Champions League draw for the first time ever.
A week after his jolly to Monaco some senior figures at Celtic briefed a friend of Roger Hannah of The Sun that Brendan Rodgers was trying to engineer his way out of Celtic.
A fortnight later Rodgers delivered a masterful media performance, accusing those involves of a cowardly act and expecting those involved to be removed from the club.
Chairman Lawwell has taken no action.
The cowardly people involved in running to The Sun were likely to have watched the win over Motherwell from the Directors Box.
Tom Allison, a non-executive Director since 2003, and former Clydeport colleague of Lawwell wasn’t at Sunday’s match.

Lawwell may at one point, have been one of us. His behaviour at the end of the 2024 Scottish Cup Final would suggest otherwise. While every Tim on the planet was celebrating a win over Der Hun, Pete The Cheat was looking well pissed-off. Maybe the Orange Sash under his Armani suit was giving him a skin rash.

The foreman of the jury Maeda delivered a verdict, guilty on all counts. The man in the box took it rather badly seeing Brendan get a last-minute reprieve, it must have stuck in the craw.

BB – no chance of BR revealing all. I would imagine but can’t be 100% certain that there may be some sort of financial bonus once BR sees out his contract, a bit like the maturity bonus at the end of an insurance policy.
I have also no doubt that there will be a legally binding non disclosure contract on all parties from dishing the dirt.
Well, a fair few of us knew Lawwell was a piece of work (and that’s putting it politely) but surely, now, those who had any doubts otherwise, must see him for what he is.
He undermined Rodgers last time around and obviously resents the fact that Desmond personally brought him back. It’s been reported that when he was CEO he liked to leak stories to ‘The Sun’ on anything that took his fancy as he said it was the highest selling paper in Scotland.
Surely his controlling reign must be finished after this exposure.
Pay for the fucking tickets like a true fan the fucking lot of yi !! At least do that to put zSOMETHING into the club!! PARASITES what a waste of seats !!!
