Even with Steven Gerrard all lined up to become manager Scott McDermott could barely bring himself to discuss the outside possibility of Danny Rohl taking control at his favourite club.

It was only last Sunday that they escaped their Russell Martin nightmare.

A manager of no substance, all froth and action plans but low on delivery.

There was nothing endearing about Martin but at least he wasn’t German.

He might have been another Championship no mark, a vegan and a Buddhist, a member of the Green Party but at least Martin is a Brit.

there’s other names have been mentioned, ah don’t even think like a Marco Rose, Marco van Bommel, these guys have been mentioned.

Ah don’t even think that’s going to wash with punters.

Honestly, ah think of all the names being mentioned, you talk about the boxes that need to be ticked, ah think that you are looking at McInnes, Gerrard, Dyche, Muscat maybe at a lesser extent.

It is back to the drawing board this morning for Record Sport. Whether they like it or not they better start preparing their army of readers for a German called Danny.

A phone call to Josh Windass can help turn the tide, explain how brilliant Rohl was in his 89 matches in charge of Wednesday. Which includes, ominously, a 4-0 defeat to Russell Martin’s Southampton.

With Gerrards ruling himself out, apparently the timing is wrong, again other options are thin on the ground.

Derek McInnes or Barry Ferguson would be assured of a ticker-tape welcome at the Record Sports Desk. But it will take more than being staunch to succeed.

Doubts are setting in about Andrew Cavenagh’s continued support of Kev Thelwell.

The celebrated take-over is heading in the same direction as the introduction of a billionaire from Motherwell in November 2010. That one had a particularly nasty ending.

With the pesky internationals out the road Record Sport can now crank up their Ibrox coverage to celebrate the new manager. As long as he isn’t Danny Rohl.

Joe McHugh has edited Video Celts since 2010, every day covering events in and around Scotland's most successful club.

When a six year stretch at the Sunday Mirror came to an end it was clear that the future was digital, print had ran its race.

Smart phones and social media created a new landscape, Video Celts has certainly made an impact with Joe described as having an unhealthy obsession by Peter Lawwell at the 2024 Celtic AGM. A priceless endorsement.

There are issues breaking around the clock, no two days are the same. More than 50 years on from his first match Joe is enjoying the ongoing successes of Celtic.
