Jim Orr delivered an impressive performance on BBC Scotland’s Sportsound show on October 10.
Joining the sneering duo of Kenny Macintyre and Tom English can’t be much fun but Orr more than managed to get the message out there for the Celtic Fans Collective.
During a 15 minute appearance he clearly articulated the issues at the club to a hostile audience.
SCOTLAND’S MOST SUCCESSFUL
Early on Macintyre butted in to question whether Orr was correct with Celtic being Scotland’s most successful club. Painful but true Kenny, very true. Your first love died in 2012 Kenny, their Tribute Act has been a basket-case since day 1.
Michael Stewart provided some balance and common sense. Clearly he had done some homework unlike his two BBC colleagues. They seem to prefer Monster Munch to doing any background work or research.
The arguments put forward by Orr are well known among the online Celtic support. Outsiders don’t get it as English demonstrated with his praise for Peter Lawwell and the worn out claim about Celtic being a well run club. Celtic are far from being well run.
Losing out seven times in the last nine Champions League qualifiers tells its own story. Kairat Almaty made it five out of five on that front.
?? A brilliant clip of @BrattbakkJimOrr speaking recently on BBC Sportsound about some of the recent issues between Celtic and the fans.
Well worth the 15mins or so ??https://t.co/hptYHt2Zz0

Orr was a member of the Save Our Celts group in the early nineties that campaigned against the way that the Kelly’s and White’s who were then in charge.
PREVIOUS REBELLIONS
Celts For Change developed from that, in March 1994 Fergus McCann rescued the club and set out a new way forward.
Thirty years on Celtic are in a similar situation of under performing.
Last season supporters got a glimpse of what can be achieved in the Champions League. This season they are toiling to make any impact in the Europa League. A sub-40,000 crowd tonight against Sturm Graz tells its own tale.
Before tonight’s match the Collective is arranging to hand out leaflets to supporters explaining their objectives.
That feels very much like a nineties throwback, back then Not The View was the main communication vehicle alongside snippets in the mainstream media.
These days the support is well informed through a variety of social media outlets but there is still a place for leaflets and challenging the cliches and complacency of folk like Macintyre and English.
Orr is a regular on ACSOM’s Friday show which is free on You Tube. No licence fee is required to watch or listen.

Can you tell me what time is the ACSOM podcast starts on you tube , ?
Editor: They go out live at 12.30, lunchtime.
It was a good discussion and Jim summed up my feelings exactly. We aren’t asking for the earth, just that the club is the best it can be.
For far too long Celtic have operated with the financial handbrake on, leading to nepotism, incompetence, and an adherence to an outdated transfer model which is taking far too long to complete deals.
Celtic is turning into a home for the terminally unambitious.
I agree. We all know the financial odds are stacked against clubs from leagues like ours, so I doubt anyone in our support with even a tenuous grasp of reality is realistically expecting regular appearances in Champions’ League finals etc. any time soon. However, you look back to last season and you look around the Champions League and see what comparable clubs to ours can achieve and have achieved and it’s not unreasonable that we expect more from our club.
Take Club Brugge for example. They regularly lose their best players (often bought by them at modest costs), but reinvest funds to get properly targeted, quality replacements in and keep the show on the road. Our board just have a scatter gun approach of selling our best players and taking punts on a large number of low budget projects, in the blind hope that some turn good. And even then they can’t even do the absolute basics of getting even those deals over the line.
Nicholson can whine all he likes about different European taxes and stuff being a problem, but here’s the thing: every other club in the UK and in world football has to deal with that. Being able to do so is a basic part of the running of a football club and is why your CEO gets his or her big salary! These taxes and other things aren’t just applied uniquely to Celtic’s transfer dealings ffs!!! By highlighting this as an excuse he’s actually just highlighting his incompetence and how utterly lacking he is as the CeO of a major football club. In fact, add that to the shambles and criticism of the way we go about transfers from other clubs we’ve been dealing with recently and he’s actually making us a laughing stock that other clubs will probably have major reservations about dealing with in future. Except when we’re in the final hours of the window, we have a threadbare squad and they know they can screw us over.
Jim Orr the Oracle of ACSOM putting these morons in their place
Glad he put that guy McIntyre in his place and also that English West Brit Irish Bastard by stating that…
CELTIC ARE SCOTLANDS MOST SUCCESSFUL FOOTBALL CLUB !
If the board truly are following the Moneyball trajectory with regards signings, I don’t think it would be too much to ask at the AGM for them to supply us a full list of the players identified using this process.
That way we can all see just exactly how successful this process is as opposed to scouting players the old fashioned way.
Maybe looking at the numbers on a spreadsheet with who generated what in transfer fees against how they were initially recruited would put all our minds at ease that Moneyball is the answer…..or mibbes no…
As I’ve said before the only good thing about the SMSM being flooded with ex theRangers players and affiliates being employed on all match days , is that they are all there together as a collective team when their pet project fails miserably …there is no hiding place for them especially the BBC Scottish version. In fact speaking of being there together the daily Record has big Andy and wee Scotty in Bergen , Norway to cover one match ,from it’s dozens of readers , arm in arm in unison ,comparing glowing sentences . Reminds me of The Beatles song ‘ Norwegian Wood ! ‘
