No Sell Out- Celtic still pushing tickets for Motherwell match

On Saturday morning Celtic sheepishly took to social media to advertise tickets for the home match with Motherwell.

It got a predictable reaction.

For £36 you can brave the aftermath of Storm Amy to watch the leftovers of last season’s squad trying to buck the best efforts of the club CEO to weaken the squad in every area.

Those determined efforts are starting to pay off, Celtic have failed to score in three of their last four home matches with only a 3-0 win over Livingston to brighten the gloom.

Over the last four seasons the small allocation of tickets up for sale have generally been snapped up in a couple of hours.

Once 53,000 Season Tickets have been deducted plus an allocation for away fans and segregation there are rarely more than a few thousand tickets available for sale.

As well as Amy there has been a perfect storm brewing up over Celtic, kicking off in January with the decision to sell Kyogo Furuhashi and not bother with a replacement.

Having got a taste for that Michael Nicholson sold off Nicolas Kuhn and Adam Idah during the summer, once Celtic had failed to reach the Champions League he decided to cover his tracks with the signings of Michel-Ange Balikwisha, Sebastian Tounekti and Kelechi Iheanacho.

Topping up that catalogue of disaster senior figures inside the club went running to a friend of Roger Hannah followed the next day by the publication of the most ridiculous statement this century, naturally no-one put their name to that insult to intelligence.

The next home match after the Motherwell game is a Europa League time against Sturm Graz on October 23 with tickets priced at £45 plus a £1.50 booking fee.

Officially there were 14,000 empty seats at the Europa League tie against Braga.

With the Motherwell match being shown on Celtic TV Chris McKay will be able to enjoy the  wacky messages sent on his Whats App groups.

When a six year stretch at the Sunday Mirror came to an end it was clear that the future was digital, print had ran its race.

Smart phones and social media created a new landscape, Video Celts has certainly made an impact with Joe described as having an unhealthy obsession by Peter Lawwell at the 2024 Celtic AGM. A priceless endorsement.

There are issues breaking around the clock, no two days are the same. More than 50 years on from his first match Joe is enjoying the ongoing successes of Celtic.
