Chris Sutton watched the inevitable car crash come to a conclusion on Monday night.
At Tynecastle on Sunday he was on Sky Sports duty as Celtic lost 3-1 to Hearts as all of their recruitment issues came together.
Despite far greater resources Rodgers had a badly imbalanced squad featuring three players who had started a total of three SPFL Premiership matches combined.
Up against Colby Donovan, Dane Murray and Jonny Kenny was a well organised and structured opponent- four months in the making.
DEFEAT AT TYNECASTLE, OVER AND OUT
When Celtic went 3-1 down 10 minutes into the second half the outcome of the match wasn’t in doubt.
However very few fans watching expected it to be the last act of Brendan Rodgers II at Celtic.
The Irishman went through his media duties without any further fireworks. A week earlier at Dens Park comparing Honda Civics to Ferraris had created excitement.
At some stage on Monday Rodgers put his resignation in to Michael Nicholson. Dermot Desmond reacted furiously.
He was followed by John Kennedy, Adam Sadler, Jack Lyons and Glen Driscoll joined him.
From the front line coaching staff at Tynecastle on Sunday only the ever loyal Gavin Strachan and Stevie Woodswill be at Lennoxtown this morning.
Gavin’s brother Craig is Celtic’s little known Senior European and UK Scout.
“The club’s a shadow of what it once was” ?

The manager, Brendan Rodgers, was unhappy about that. And the start of the season has been really woeful.
Celtic are in a position where their frontline is a shadow of what it once was in the recent past. And eight points behind Hearts now at the top of the league. The club’s in a bit of a pickle.
And Brendan’s decided to walk. And it’s probably the best thing for the club in terms of if the relationship was that bad. It seemed to be that bad.
Do you believe a word of that statement from Desmond (who as only a NED should not be issuing statements through official club channels.)
2 transfer windows without replacing Kyogo and Rodger’s never once raised a concern about it.
Laughable.

Sutton has long predicted last night’s outcome, only the date and circumstances had to be sorted out.
THE INEVITABLE EXIT
From the sale of Kyogo Furuhashi in January onwards it was clear that football was a secondary concern to the Celtic decision makers.
In pre-season Rodgers announced that he wasn’t a continuity guy. If Celtic wanted to stand still, set ambitions relative to their cherished O** F*** business partners then he wasn’t the man for that task.
Shaun Maloney as many had anticipated is the caretaker manager with Martin O’Neill his shield, providing witty stories to the media. Barely anyone in the Celtic dressing room will be familiar with the ways of Brian Clough.
If Maloney can deliver victories in the next three domestic games he will get the job through until the end of the season. If Celtic lose Sunday’s League Cup semi-final his reign will be short lived.
At times like this a CEO comes into their own. Demonstrating leadership skills and decision making.
Michael Nicholson couldn’t put his name to either of the statements issued by Celtic last night.
Do you believe every claim in the Dermot Desmond's statement?
YES- Desmond knows the full story, trust him fully
NO- He would be sacked if those claims are true
Celtic unravelling at speed. It was clear from the events of January and the summer that Rodgers was seriously undermined. He’s been struggling with the situation and not made great selection or tactical decisions since tbh. Not beating the ibrox club, losing cup final, kairat games and also Sunday. I didn’t see it picking up when he wasn’t being innovative and carrying an air of depression. That said, still a deeply sad end for a man who has won so much for celtic.
With regard to your poll, Dermot Desmond and Celtic, who published the statement on the club’s website, would both be liable to pay susbtantial damages to Rodgers in the event that the damaging allegations made in the statement were, in fact, false.
For that reason, I believe the information in Desmond’s statement to be true. I doubt the club would allow DD to make false, libellous claims on its website just to score points after Rodgers had resigned.
Well at least it proves there’s no NDA in place.
BR will have his say when the time is right.
Often though, narcissists are first to get their take out there cos thats nearly always the one that gets traction.
Bottom line is, the team was left with no front line of any use dating back to before the Bayern game, and I ain’t believing BR sanctioned that….not a chance.
Tomorrow night will be utterly toxic – As it should fuckin we’ll be…
So that Rodgers away –
Will the three cowards of ‘Daddy’ ‘Lucan’ and ‘Sly’ Show face tomorrow night…
Perhaps ‘Sly’ as he’s less high profile…
The other two though – I think not !
No better person to re unite the club than Martin O ‘ Neill . Just watch the SMSM do it’s level best to prolong this debacle inside Celtic Park . Every opportunity grabbed to make Celtic FC seem like a basket case . Well the best way to cram their negativity is to go to war against Falkirk and then at the weekend against the tribute act . Speaking of which ..have you noticed how the scoops have their pet project ‘purring ‘ along after theRangers supporting Stewart Kettlewell’ s Kilmarnock lay down to them at the weekend ? You could set your watch to the start of the moist leg drip stuff coming from their laptops for copy .
The manager lied, misleading the fans and creating a toxic atmosphere. Almost sabotage by Rat A Twoey.
