Bodo Glimt showed their admiration for the political messaging of Galatasaray fans at last night’s Champions League fixture.
There are bigger issues than picking up three points and UEFA hand outs. Bodo lost the football match 3-0.
Celtic fans were the first to take protests about the genocide into the football arena.
GREEN BRIGADE
Against Bayern Munich in February the Green Brigade unveiled a banner that was straight to the point as Israeli troops stepped up their bid to crush and flatten Gaza.
It might seem trivial to some but that message on a Champions League night provides hope for those on the receiving end. They aren’t forgotten. Their lives aren’t worthless.
Television cameras avoided the Green Brigade banner but social media sent it viral.
Across the world the banner reappeared with fans of clubs across Europe, in Africa and South America.
Celtic supporters were trail blazers. Typically the blazers and suits looked the other way, briefing their messengers about fears over UEFA fines and reactions.
UEFA wisely ducked out of the issue.

Over the summer some leading players gave their support to the people of Palestine as they opposed the genocide.
UEFA STANCE
Removing Israeli clubs from European competition became a debating point. Russian clubs have been out of UEFA competitions since the invasion of Ukraine.
Ordinary fans can shape and influence powerful bodies on matters that they’d rather avoid.
UEFA wants their competitions to be about naked greed and commercialism with some token box ticking exercises.
Galatasaray fans and others have shown that football is more than a sport. Again the Green Brigade and Celtic fans have had their values justified.
Tonight Celtic take on Sturm Graz in the Europa League. After two nights of Champions League matches it is very much second rate fare. Whatever the stage the message and values of Celtic fans doesn’t waver.

We might be rotten at footy, but the club’s values are recognised globally?
To then alienate – and antagonise – the support, [or paying customers],
the Board is confirming that it has absolutely no idea what “world class” actually means?
Don’t know much about this conflict but glad that they’re supporting Gaza because if Celtic supporters say it’s correct that’s good enough for me…
But it’s not good the constant fines for the club all the time though !
