Deja vu was in the air at Celtic Park yesterday as Don Robertson refereed the visit of Kilmarnock.
For reasons that only Willie Collum can explain it was the fourth time in 11 SPFL Premiership matches that Celtic have suffered under the Glasgow based official.
A MAN ON A MISSION
Against Kilmarnock the decision from Robertson wasn’t game changing but the intent was obvious.
If he can penalise Celtic he will.
Over the years he has almost perfected the Disadvantage Rule. Late in the second half yesterday he pulled back a promising break to give Celtic a free kick for offside 30 yards behind play.
A typical ploy masterminded by Collum’s elite Premiership officials.
Despite having 74.7% possession of the ball against Kilmarnock, Robertson managed to award 14 free kicks against Celtic. The dominant team were given just four free kicks.
A repeated tactic to slow Celtic down, give opponents a breather and the chance to eat up time.

SHALK PRECEDENT
Robertson really came to the fOre in April 2017 with that incredible Alex Schalk penalty decision.
There was plenty of clear air between Erik Sviatchenko and the Ross County forward. Clearly Robertson wanted to impact on the game.
Celtic won 34 matches and drew four games that season. Robertson decided one of those draws.
Roll the clock forward eight years and Robertson is making similar decisions. Celtic suffer again.
Had Celtic made an example of Robertson following the Ross County penalty his career would never progressed. Peter Lawwell was CEO at the time.
With Michael Nicholson’s vow of silence aspiring top flight referees have free reign to award whatever they like against Celtic.
Not only will there be no repercussions but it will fast track them towards the top domestic fixtures with the added bonus of lucrative European appointments. Robertson was in charge of the first Glasgow Derby of the season, a sure sign of his status in the Scottish game.

Listening to the Radio commentary, I think Robertson had fallen asleep and the bit of action from Maeda wakened him up as he realised he should book Maeda.
