For the full course of two weeks the Ibrox messengers have had tunnel vision over the attempted beheading of Jack Butland.
Legacy media, fan media and social media have all fed off each other as they dive deeper into paranoia.
DALLAS & MCLEAN
Every day fresh outrage has been uncovered as the nod towards the dark arts performed by Steven McLean and Andrew Dallas.
When those two bears with whistles are being dragged into the conspiracy chat it is time to take a deep breath. Who’s next? John Beaton? A deep undercover Celtic fan?
Amid all of the weeping and gnashing of teeth it appears that no player has ever before been struck on the head.
Connor Barron didn’t perform a Kung Fu kick on a St Mirren player and stay on. That Steven Fletcher didn’t kick Joe Hart in the head with the keeper requiring stitching and a bandage. McLean booked the Dundee United forward.
Since diving out the way of Callum McGregor’s shot at Hampden Butland has played in two more matches. Coming through unscathed.
A statement was issued from Ibrox the day after the attempted beheading. Sky Sports were then alerted to follow up action based on the findings of the KMI panel!

LEIGHTON WIPED OUT
Back in 2000 Jim Leighton was wiped out two minutes into the Scottish Cup Final. By the swinging leg of Rod Wallace. The Aberdeen keeper suffered a broken jaw. Wallace wasn’t booked for his part in the incident.
Close to the incident was Billy Dodds. He was at Hampden for the Butland incident, telling Radio Scotland listeners that Trusty had raked his studs across Butland’s face.
There was no media outrage over Leighton’s injury. Aberdeen didn’t name a goalkeeper among their three substitutes. Robbie Winters went in goals. Aberdeen lost 4-0.
Afterwards Scotland celebrated the Orange Cup Final all summer long. Some even claimed it was in tribute to the Dutch influence at Ibrox!

They don’t just do it to other teams players. They do it to their own as well. Especially Big Jack. There was Propper. I mean you’ve never seen anything like it, that headbut!
I barely look at the mainstream media because it’s so full of Huns, morons and wannabes, but can anyone tell me if that wise old sage Ally McCoist expressed any strong opinion on the attempted beheading of Jack Butland? It might be illuminating to hear.
Back in 1991 everyone’s favourite chubby chappy fractured Theo Snelders cheekbone in a ‘collision’ at Pittodrie for which he was not sent off and Snelders missed the close run-in to that season, leaving an inexperienced understudy – Michael Watt – to cave in at iBrox and lose the two goals that took the championship to iBrox.
McCoist celebrated wildly in the Rangers dressing room after he conned the Referee into giving them a penalty they didn’t deserve one time.
I wouldn’t put anything beyond him!
