William Hill have included Derek McInnes in the running to become the next Celtic manager.

The Hearts boss is rated as the fourth favourite and is priced at 12/1. Hills have withdrawn Wilfried Nancy from their list with only Martin O’Neill and Kjetil Knutsen ahead of the Hearts boss.

NON-RUNNERS

Of course there is absolutely no chance of McInnes leaving Hearts for Celtic.

Why the SPFL sponsors have included him is open to debate.

Other more remote bookies might include the manager of the league leaders among the contenders to replace Brendan Rodgers.

Anyone with local knowledge knows that there is no chance of McInnes managing Celtic. Readers of this site know that it isn’t remotely a possibility. William Hill are on the ball with all matters across the four divisions that they sponsor.

On Friday the price on Knutsen came in sharply. Cynics know that this is a market wide open to manipulation. It isn’t taken too seriously and brings nice publicity for bookmakers.

THE MARKET MAKERS

Genuinely the market reacts to supply and demand. A few bets quickly impacts on the price. Anyone wanting to put on £50 or more will find that a phone call or check. The odds quoted will fall sharply.

Nancy seems to be the main contender at the moment, the man currently in charge of Columbus Crew.

Comparisons have been made to Ange Postecoglou but that only really applies to Nancy’s playing style. Postecoglou came in to Celtic with 20 years management experience. He had operated at the World Cup, won the Asian Cup for Australia and titles in Australia and Japan.

There does appear to be some substance to the interest even though Celtic have said nothing since Dermot Desmond’s incredible statement.

Next Friday Celtic stage their 2025 AGM, if no appointment has been made it looks like the O’Neill Shaun Maloney double act could be in for an extended run in the dug-out.

NOTE: William Hill today presented Claudio Brava of Hearts with their October Player of the Month award.

When a six year stretch at the Sunday Mirror came to an end it was clear that the future was digital, print had ran its race.

Smart phones and social media created a new landscape, Video Celts has certainly made an impact with Joe described as having an unhealthy obsession by Peter Lawwell at the 2024 Celtic AGM. A priceless endorsement.

There are issues breaking around the clock, no two days are the same. More than 50 years on from his first match Joe is enjoying the ongoing successes of Celtic.

“Come On Nancy, Get Them Two Off! What’r Ye Waitin’ For?”
Some people have heads and hot money and some have hot heads and hot money and others have more sense than to gamble!

Derek McInnes to Celtic 2025 – unthinkable.
Alex Ferguson to Celtic 1990 – unthinkable.

    About time someone started thinking.

Nice TV quote from the Scotlans Assistant Manager before the last rounds of World Cup Qualifiers. Sure, he said
“You’d Cut Your Hands Off To Reach The World Cup.”
Oh yeah? Maybe he could explain that one!

McInnes would do just fine with Celtic’s budget clout…

But getting cash from ‘Daddy’ ‘Lucan’ and ‘Sly’ is like getting me to wear a Sevco or even Inverness Caley Thistle tip…

    It ain’t fuckin happening !
