As everyone expected Statement FC delighted their fans with a Monday evening attack on the SFA over decisions at Hampden yesterday.

Not about the dodgy VAR lines that saved Nicky Raskin from an Own Goal. Not about Derek Cornelius and his horror assault on Johnny Kenny.

It was all about Auston Trusty and the heroic Jack Butland.

After the VAR face, after the Cornelius assault and the Telmo Aasgaard red card attention turned to Trusty.

WALSH HORROR SHOWING

In first half stoppage time the Celtic defender anticipated Butland dropping the ball as he came for a cross.

Realising that the former Crystal Palace dud was going to hold onto the ball Trusty pulled back. Super Jack’s momentum carried him into Trusty’s boot, the boot wasn’t raised. Despite the best efforts of the BBC, Daily Record and others to slant opinion.

Trusty was booked.

Despite possession being just 51%-49% in Celtic’s favour. The free kick count went 26-13 against Celtic. The yellow card count was 6-3 against the League Cup holders.

Walsh was a disgrace. Backed up in every decision by Steven McLean and Andrew Dallas. All at Hampden, in front of Ian Maxwell of the SFA.

Using their tried and tested deflection method, tonight the Ibrox club stated:

THE handling of key incidents during Sunday’s semi-final has again raised legitimate concerns about the consistency of refereeing in Scottish football.

Club representatives met with the Scottish FA this evening to seek explanations for major decisions in the match, including the incident involving Jack Butland and Auston Trusty.

Following that meeting, we remain unsatisfied with the explanation of the referee’s decision in that incident, the application of the Laws of the Game, and the VAR review itself, which we do not believe was sufficiently robust or thorough.

We recognise that refereeing decisions can impact both sides in a game, but too many important matches continue to be influenced by calls that are inconsistent and difficult to justify. These decisions have real consequences, determining results, impacting fans, and affecting the livelihoods of players, coaches and staff whose work is judged by outcomes on the pitch.

The club has consistently raised issues as they have occurred with the Scottish FA, but we do not feel there has been enough change in how refereeing is being developed at the highest level.

We understand and share the anger among our supporters, who have grown frustrated at the repeated inconsistencies in major match decisions that continue to affect the club.

For the benefit of our supporters and the wider game in the country, we will continue to hold the Scottish FA to account and expect them to lead meaningful progress that delivers lasting improvement.

Very few Celtic fans would complain if Walsh, McLean and Dallas were demoted to Junior or Amateur level matches.

Should Walsh, McLean and Dallas be dropped from refereeing?

Joe McHugh has edited Video Celts since 2010, every day covering events in and around Scotland's most successful club.

When a six year stretch at the Sunday Mirror came to an end it was clear that the future was digital, print had ran its race.

Smart phones and social media created a new landscape, Video Celts has certainly made an impact with Joe described as having an unhealthy obsession by Peter Lawwell at the 2024 Celtic AGM. A priceless endorsement.

There are issues breaking around the clock, no two days are the same. More than 50 years on from his first match Joe is enjoying the ongoing successes of Celtic.

The lot that had to beg the sfa to play at Hampden when bob the builder could not get the steel from china.

  • Bob (original) says:

“…we will continue to hold the Scottish FA to account…”

Breathtaking arrogance from the 13 year old club – with a very short memory!

The “inconsistent” SFA also broke every rule to force the new club into the bottom league.

    That’s gratitude for you.

  • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

Well credit to their board for authorising that – Even if it is deflection under false pretences…

Now let’s here Lucan Champion our VALID grevencies…

Oops – Silly fuckin me !

Is ratkin not just a horrible wee fxck .

  • Batfink says:

Celtic should also issue a statement about the lack of protection for our players but then again our board just sucks it up game after game they certainly don’t like the media spotlight.

  • Fergusslayedtheblues says:

So it’s all about Trusty .
Looks to me like deflection. Walsh and the VARs performance was a disgrace on the day and for sevconians to be questioning their bias towards Celtic ,helps you understand why so many of them spout the same club nonsense.
We have way more to be aggrieved about in that game .
I must say I have not been impressed with the Americans involvement so far .I thought they might have brought a sanity and professionalism to the new club but between the managerial saga the suit and brown brouge pictures (double lapel badges) ,orange strip launch and spurious greviences is only . pandering to the hordes .

  • John S says:

Very well, then. Ref and VAR team should not be involved in this fixture again.

It’s hun Spawn! Every time Celtic pump them, it spews out of Them all over the place.
The eagerly waiting Gullible Huns lap it up and the next Gen of unconsumated Hate is ensured! But they are evolving themselves towards extinction.
Theirs is a creed of hatred, long out of place in the modern world.
Warning: the preceeding observation contains attitudes familiar to the 1690’s!

P.s. England’s U-17 Stars of the Future just got pumped 0 – 3 by Venezuela U – 17’s in their opening World Cup qualifier!
