Chris Sutton watched another Ibrox messiah implode at Hampden today.

Danny Rohl’s side get outclassed in a 3-1 defeat from Celtic despite the best levelling up efforts of the match officials.

Nick Walsh, Steven McLean and Andrew Dallas all did their part but Callum McGregor and two rookie strikers ensured that justice was done.

Celtic were without three of their four top scorers from last season. Alistair Johnston, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Kelechi Iheanacho and Jota were all out injured.

Their 73-year-old manager agreed to take over on Monday night, less than a week to prepare for a semi-final.

Since 2016 Sutton has heard that ‘Rangers are coming’, it doesn’t take much to excite the Gullible and Deluded. Led by influencers like Kris Boyd.

Rohl was third choice to replace Russell Martin. He knocked the job back before the salary offer was increased after Kev Muscat knocked the job back.

It only took wins over Kilmarnock and Hibs to get the bears believing again in the next messiah.

After losing 3-0 to Brann Bergen he switched to a 3-5-2 formation. Today at Hampden a Celtic team full of rookies picked his side apart.

Only the influence of Walsh, Dallas and McLean kept the game competitive.

Rohl’s honeymoon is over, after home matches against Falkirk and Livingston he faces some real fixtures during December.

Dundee United, Kilmarnock, Ferencvaros, Hearts and Celtic have to be visited between December 3 and January 3.

Russell Martin lasted 123 days with a record of five wins in 17 matches. Rohl is on two wins out of four ahead of facing Roma on Thursday in the Europa League.

Boyd and others will be out with the usual excuses after today’s defeat. Celtic now face St Mirren next month looking to win their 121st major honour, more than any club in Scotland alive or dead.

Joe McHugh has edited Video Celts since 2010, every day covering events in and around Scotland's most successful club.

When a six year stretch at the Sunday Mirror came to an end it was clear that the future was digital, print had ran its race.

Smart phones and social media created a new landscape, Video Celts has certainly made an impact with Joe described as having an unhealthy obsession by Peter Lawwell at the 2024 Celtic AGM. A priceless endorsement.

There are issues breaking around the clock, no two days are the same. More than 50 years on from his first match Joe is enjoying the ongoing successes of Celtic.

It looks like they’re trying the same solution to a problem that doesn’t wok, over and over again!

Anyone notice the irony of the Huns crying over Trusty’s ( very silly ) foot to the head of Butt Land , when 50 yards away the banner of the Sam English Appreciation Society was in full view ..
