Each day since the League Cup semi-final at Hampden fresh clips are emerging of the mistakes made by the match officials.

None of the decisions went against the club that has had a meeting with Willie Collum and served up a statement for their angry messengers.

Angry bears don’t need much to get angrier about.

BACKGROUND CHECKS

They went to Hampden convinced that Nick Walsh, Steven McLean and Andrew Dallas were Vatican appointments designed to deny them their rightful glory. The simplest of background checks ought to have reassured them.

This week match referee Walsh is working on the education, heath and fitness of the Murray Park starlets along the road at Boclair Academy in Bearsden.

VAR official McLean is the brother of former Rangers youth team defender Brian. Google ‘Josh Meekings, Celtic, Inverness Caley Thistle, handball’ if you need a second opinion on McLean.

Dallas is the son of Hugh. No further explanation is required.

JUSTICE DENIED!

Despite that, led by their club and media messengers the teenage club were the victims on Sunday. They were robbed. Denied justice.

That, honestly is their take on events at Hampden.

On Monday the Reo Hatate/Mikey Moore incident surfaced. Not from the mainstream but from those pesky Internet Bampots. Celtic fans with too much time to kill.

Tuesday brought the Derek Cornelius handball. Another incident that legacy media outlets won’t go near as they go all-in with Auston Trusty.

More will come to light in the absence of mainstream coverage.

Substitute Michel-Ange Balikwisha only really has one contribution to his name since his summer move to Celtic rom Standard Liege. He whipped in the cross that Daizen Maeda headed in the winner against Motherwell.

HANDBALL! VAR? PREMIER SPORTS?

Late on in the semi-final he again found himself in a promising position. As he cut the ball back into the face of goal Corneilus raised his right arm to block it.

Walsh saw ‘something’ and awarded a corner. Balikwisha claimed for a penalty. There was a natural break in play.

VAR officials McLean and Dallas had a natural pause in play to review the incident.

They chose not to. Just like Premier Sports. Highly selective coverage from Hampden.

Even in the 118th minute, even when leading 3-1 against 10 men Celtic have the right to have the Laws of the Game applied.

A penalty would have given Arne Engels a chance of some extra glory. Slot home a semi-final penalty in front of the Celtic fans.

McLean, Dallas and Premier Sports decided not to take another look. It was as if they had already given up on the game.

Meanwhile Statement FC and their bonkers Fan Advisory Board have been out feeding the paranoia of their supporters.

Joe McHugh has edited Video Celts since 2010, every day covering events in and around Scotland's most successful club.

When a six year stretch at the Sunday Mirror came to an end it was clear that the future was digital, print had ran its race.

Smart phones and social media created a new landscape, Video Celts has certainly made an impact with Joe described as having an unhealthy obsession by Peter Lawwell at the 2024 Celtic AGM. A priceless endorsement.

There are issues breaking around the clock, no two days are the same. More than 50 years on from his first match Joe is enjoying the ongoing successes of Celtic.
