Watching 10 man Braga equalising at Ibrox on Thursday night proved just too much for David Tanner.
The former Sky Sports anchor-man has suffered a lot over the last 15 years but it seems that he is still immune to the reality of football in 2025.
HASN’T HE SUFFERED ENOUGH?
Tanner has suffered administration and liquidation of his boyhood heroes, a P45 from Sky Sports and is now watching ringside the most dominant spell in Scottish football history.
After being knocked back by a variety of broadcasters wee Davie, known as autocue to his friends, has found a home with TalkSPORT2.
The pay isn’t much but it doesn’t provide a Press Pass for Ibrox where he can sit and suffer, remembering the good old days.
If he can dry his eyes long enough Tanner can think back to sharing a studio with Neil McCann then being joined by a joyous Walter Smith or Ally McCoist.
Top banter would flow, everyone was quids in except Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs.
Never ever could Tanner have pictured a German hispster wearing Walter’s brogues while claiming that one point from 15 in the Europa League is progress. It’s that 2025 thing again Davie boy.
Oh dear, you are sounding quite like a fan there David…are you a fan David?… pic.twitter.com/Y0y9iOfHyP

The mood at Ibrox on Thursday night wasn’t great.
EUROPEAN NIGHTMARE
Four successive defeats left the 2012 Ibrox Tribute Act in bottom place in the Europa League.
Watching Celtic win 3-1 away to Feyenoord wasn’t the warm up that Tanner and his fellow sufferers had anticipated.
With a penalty and a red card against the visitors it looked like Ibrox would be celebrating a rare home win in Europe. The first in 2025, ended in a seven match losing run, home and away.
Alas it is often the hope that kills them.
SINKING FEELING
In the 69th minute Nasser Djiga swung at a cross into the penalty box. His touch sent the ball past Captain Disappointed. Lurking unmarked Gabri Martinez sent his low shot past Jack Butland.
Tanner’s face fell, he reached towards his phone to share his pain and misery. Thefan spoke.
Offered an interview with Djiga he would no doubt be nicey nice, maybe putting Thursday’s howler down to the wind. Just as Ally McCoist did on TNT co-commentary duty.
Djiga is only on loan. Now £3m former Peterbrough ace Manny Fernandez is being talked up. Just like Clinton Nsiala at the start of the year. The delusions are never ending.
He’s not the only one with a credibility problem, David. Thats for sure.

Do you think Charlie Greens new club should have won more than 3 trophies in almost 14 years? I’m asking you as a journalist not as a fan of the old liquidated club?

Can’t keep up with who is to blame! Was it GVB or the brains behind Gerrard or god knows how many others! Why don’t you sell your souls to become a feeder club for the mighty LUFC!

Every ‘Rangers’ match seems to have controversial incidents, sending offs, moaning about refs, players all pushing and shoving each other. A depressing lot.
Tanner is just ur typical media sevco supporter, he thinks you show loyalty and staunchness by looking miserable when things aren’t goin well.
Why do they do that?
It’s almost as if it’s a must do to be accepted as one of them.
Don’t worry about the progress in Europe for theRangers thing ? Those nice , loyal to a fault scoops of’ the jury ‘ at the always sympathetic rag daily Record are all agreed ? After being unable to beat a well below form 10 men Braga , gaining a drawn point is certainly ‘ progress ! ‘ Next stop ..who will the tribute act meet in the final of the Scottish Cup ? It’s all good in daily Record Towers !
