For any neutral commentating on the League Cup semi-final at Hampden the goal from Callum McGregor was a moment of broadcasting magic.
In the third minute of extra-time the Celtic skipper slammed a shot at goal from 25 yards out.
John Souttar ducked out of the way, Jack Butland dived to his right putting on a show for the photographers.
The ball flew into the centre of the net. Celtic fans worldwide burst into cheers. Relief, excitement, joy, anxiety. All of it. Following the torture of the second half when the match seemed to be slipping away.
One Brazilian commentator caught the full joy of the moment. He didn’t hold back. Listen to every syllable used to describe the goal. It is a work of art.

On Premier Sports Rory Hamilton sounded like he had just been patched by Ally McCoist’s for a European night out.
On BBC Scotland dejected ‘Aberdeen’ fan Liam MacLeod was raking through his stats for the last 93rd minute goal scored at the Mount Florida end of Hampden. James McFadden turned to console Billy Dodds.
Meanwhile yer man on Brazilian TV was going over the goal from every angle. His pronunciation of McGregor is a joy.
A name that could be from Braveheart or Outlander.
The commentator’s joy matched that of the Celtic captain. He has watched his side get decimated by the policies of Michael Nicholson. Close colleagues Brendan Rodgers and John Kennedy left this week.
But in that moment. Between the ball leaving his boot and hitting the net McGregor was in his own world of joy. A final place booked, one match from another medal. Scotland’s most successful club just wants to win more and more.
Behind Butland was abject despair for the Gullible & Deluded. It truly was a Beautiful Sunday.
Gooooooaaaaaaaaaalllllll Celtico
sevco SHITEOOOOOOOO!
And we have our Brazilian equivalent in Liam MC Leod who was adamant Jack the lad Butland should have saved it as Calum shot straight at him …
WOW! That is SOME celebration. SOME goal! I’ve heard Brazilian commentators before and they’re a real joy but I wonder if that particular one grew up in Coatbridge or The Calton. 🙂
Brazilian Wax-Ing Lyrical !
