Peter Lawwell couldn’t keep his anger under control as he chaired the 2025 Celtic AGM.
Growing dissent in the former CEO now covers most areas of the club, the club shaped by Lawwell during 17 years as CEO.
Little has changed since Lawwell stepped down as CEO in 2021, 18 months later he was back as Chairman.
THE CONTROLLER
With lightweight Michael Nicholson as CEO Lawwell remains the dominant personality at Celtic as shareholders were reminded of on Friday.
Once upon a time Lawwell would have taken on any hecklers with glee. A few gags about Rangers would have had the elderly shareholders slapping their thighs and roaring their approval.
‘Look at him, big Peter, saved Celtic from liquidation by the .way’. That line is wearing thin these days.
The club shaped by Lawwell is toiling. Nicholson’s attempt at a managed decline to clip the wings of Brendan Rodgers has backfired. Spectacularly.

Rodgers resigned four weeks ago. It seems that Paul Tisdale is now the dominating football figure. He has overseen two horrific transfer windows. Delivering for the balance sheet while damaging the team on the park.
After adjourning the AGM after just just four minutes Lawwell returned.
STAGE MANAGED
The shareholders were pointed to a classic Pravda video. Reminded of how great everything was last season.
Nicholson and Lawwell slipped out of their suits, ties off, top buttons undone. Gerry ‘don’t call me Paxman’ McCulloch.
The questions couldn’t have been softer. Only fans of Celtic Thick News would have been impressed.
And then Lawwell handed the microphone to Desmond Mini.
Some fans had held out hope that a generation down Ross would have a more modern outlook.
How wrong could you be?
THE NEXT GENERATION
In less than six minutes Desmond Jr delivered an all out attack on the Celtic support. Nothing was spared.
Constructive criticism is apparently anti-establishment talk!
Ross, that is a badge of honour for the vast majority of Celtic fans. It drive the creation of the club. It holds strong to this day. When that dies so to does Celtic.
Last night myself and James Forrest attended the meeting of the Celtic Fans Collective.
The podcast will be back tonight, Tuesday at 6.30pm.
Tune in for more anti-establishment content. In a rugger free zone.

Hi, earlier this morning I came across a list of the backroom staff at Colombus Crew. I recognised a name from c.40 years ago. Back then a kid from Dublin’s north inner city was making a name for himself in schoolboy football with Belvedere F.C. (think Troy Parrott nowadays). This kid later played professionally for Swansea and Exeter City in the English lower leagues. His name was Kwame Ampadu….. a Dub born and bred. I wonder if it’s the same guy and will he end up at Celtic?
Whoever this Celtuc board appoints faces a baptism of fire from day one. Forget Europe; lose the League Cup; sell our best players in the January Transfer Window and slip down the league table…. all very predictable and possible. The only conclusion that I can come to is that it’s being done deliberately to facilitate making Sevco the dominant team in Scottish football. After all they are the establishment’s team
No disrespect to the possible Celtic head coach appointment of Mr Nancy …but why can’t Celtic FC , with the superb stature and worldwide reputation for being a club of the highest order not attract people who have been there done it all and ate the chocolate? Guys who have had extensive European success at the top level ? It’s almost an attitude from coaches and managers like we love your fans and stadium atmosphere ..but no thanks for the job offer as boss . Do yo get where I’m coming from ? It’s very concerning….
I really thought lawell would be announcing he was stepping down at the agm. Look forward to hearing yous later on you tube.
Editor: The stepping down rumour is an old trick, don’t worry, stop complaining, he’ll be gone soon. Jam tomorrow blah blah blah.
As mentioned before by others:
I wrongly assumed that the boy Desmond was a non-exec.
Why was he even sitting with the Board?
Junior had no more right to sit with the Board as any other person in the audience?
Obviously PL had been instructed by DD to pass the microphone first to his son?
Mibbees that was a source of PL’s anger?
Yet he meekly complied…?
Another humiliation for PL & MN?
A craven Board which remains unfit for purpose.
I had to laugh at young the part of the speech from young dross were he said
Peter and Micheal are so great at what they do and we are lucky to have them
Then in the next breath he said
Of course we could do things better
We can do communication better
We can do recruitment better
We can compete better .
So remind me again dross ,how exactly are we LUCKY to have them
Surely the board are breaking some finance laws on the L.S.E?
I mean what they’re doing is got to be harming the business reputation and also the actual share price??
Wish they would get tae fuck, especially liewell
Keep at it, The majority of the small share holders bought our shares when Fergus McCann set it up. We are Celtic fans who had some money buy those shares 30 years ago. If I and the other share holders I know are anything to go by , we dislike the way Celtic is been run as much as anyone else. I won’t be buying merchandise this Christmas as part of the campaign and I vote every year against everything the board put forward. The attack on the fans at the agm(which I don’t attend) by RD was a disgrace just like the statement made by DD on Rodger’s when he left. I don’t blame Rodger’s for leaving at all. I want them all out they have all grown ccomplacent lazy and believe they are the reason of the success at Celtic not the managers or the players. Anti establishment fucking right I am .
Simon
Rugger free, ? What is wrong with rugger? One thing better run 2 dom mackay came from there and …… and look how long that took . Nothing wrong with rugger scores are higher! None of ur 1-0 pish try 63-0 now thats a score.
Listen if I see 63-0 in the SPHELL then beaton/dallas/mcclean/walsh must be on ref/var duties
If any meaningful change comes about in the running of celtic there should be a 3 year vote on board members and chairmen. The life has been sucked out of celtic since lawells return.
They’ll be glad it’s Feyenoord in Rotterdam tomorrow night and not Parkhead for sure !
