Danny Rohl had David Dickinson to thank for today’s home win over Motherwell.
It is a result which will please Dickinson’s closest family and friends, especially Uncle David watching from Australia.
Like the Renfrewshire version of John Beaton, Dickinson has a lengthy track record of giving decisions in a certain direction.
The home side were leading 1-0 in the 90th minute when Lukas Fadinger burst into the penalty box, turning past Manny Fernandez.
The former Peterborough starlet flicked up his left leg, Fadinger fell over in clear view of Dickinson. He didn’t want to know.

Fernandez is certainly enjoying some ‘good fortune’ benefitting from a run of honest mistakes.
At home to Livingston on November 22 a shot from Tete Yengi was heading for the net when Fernandez swung his arm to block the ball. Referee Ross Hardie waved play on knowing that Beaton on VAR would never award a penalty. Honest Willie Collum later apologised with Livingston losing 2-1.
Away to Dundee United on December 3 Fernandez swung his arm at along throw in to clear the ball. Dickinson waved play on then gave the visitors a 98th minute penalty to earn a draw.
Dickinson did what all Scottish fans expected of him today.
It seems that every Premiership club is quite happy to accept these decisions since it keeps the 2012 Ibrox Tribute Act in contention for the title despite mid-table form.

How many times are they going to get away with this blatant penalties no VAR checks and again all the other clubs are scared to challenge the SFA nothing will change, and they will continue to get away with it. This isn’t just a ref making a mistake…there are now others in a studio looking at replays.
When a decision is as obvious as that, and more than one professional isn’t applying the laws…that’s a conspiracy.
How can they both be paid, trained professionals and both think that is not a penalty.
That literally is either gross incompetence or an agenda, there is no in between.
As with any goal scored,
would a ‘fall’ like this – inside the penalty box – not automatically generate a VAR review?
And the ref has a clear line of sight – from less than 10 yards?

That was a complete cop out from the Mason in the black. Think his body language in the immediate aftermath tells a tale as he touches his face. I think Chevio Verona won the Seria A in 84 or 85 when there was a big refereeing shake up due to uncovered corruption of the day favouring turin and Milan. Would an Edinburgh ref have gave the pen at ibrox? Would an Aberdeen ref have waved aside the var pen review at Livingston…

I think this is a criminal act dangerous waters.
These honest mistakes keep happening each match to the benefit of one club who are struggling to keep pace in the title race. VAR absent again at a clear and obvious penalty decision. David Dickinson must get demoted for this latest ERROR.
