Motherwell ask the question that Michael Nicholson won’t go near

Motherwell have asked the SFA for an explanation over why they weren’t awarded a late penalty at Ibrox on Saturday.

Chasing an equaliser Lukas Fadinger skipped past Manny Fernandez in the penalty box only to be sent crashing to the ground by the left leg of the home defender.

DICKINSON ON DUTY

It was in clear view of David Dickinson, contact was made to end the threat by sending Fadinger to the deck.

Dickinson decided not to apply the Laws of the Game. As did his friend Greg Aitken on VAR duty.

Anyone doing the slightest dig into the background and family connections of Dickinson and Aitken know why they decided against applying the Laws of the Game. The bigger question is why Willie Collum constantly puts fans of the Ibrox club in charge of their matches, tonight is it John Beaton on VAR for the visit of St Mirren to Ibrox.

Motherwell are at least asking the question.

Collum will come up with some convoluted excuses for Dickinson and Aitken and continue to allow them to influence matches involving the club that they both support.

Beaton was involved in a similar incident involving Livingston at Ibrox last month. Collum trusts his mate from the Lanarkshire Referee Association to put him on VAR tonight.

SILENT MICK

At the League Cup semi-final on November 2 at Hampden Celtic were denied two clear penalties.

Reo Hatate was pushed off the ball by Mikey Moore then Michel-Ange Balikwisha had a cross knocked out for a corner by the arm of Derek Cornelius.

Nicholson and Celtic said nothing about those incidents. Match referee Nick Walsh spends Monday to Friday working on the fitness and educational needs of Murray Park starlets.

VAR officials Andrew Dallas and Steven McLean have long and consistent charge sheets for matches involving Celtic.

Tonight at Fir Park Tory boy Douglas Ross will be one of the referee assistants. Picking up his match fee, being paid mileage on a 400 mile trip as well as a hotel stay tonight.

Nicholson is counting the hours down till Saturday’s Glasgow Derby. The fixture he works harder on that any other.

At 1.45pm on Tuesday the SFA have still to announce who will referee the Derby match. Don Robertson got the first Derby, Walsh the League Cup semi-final.
