Wilfried Nancy has been talking about how much he enjoyed losing four matches in a row to start his Celtic career.
It was the worst run of results that Celtic have suffered since 1978.
They lost a top of the table clash. Lost a cup final and suffered defeat to Dundee United for the first time in 11 years.
It was horrific. But it seems that every cloud has huge silver linings because Nancy enjoyed some ‘really, really good moments’.
Delighted for you mate because no Celtic fan enjoyed those moments.
Learning outcomes might be great fun playing soccerball in Toronto or Ohio but it isn’t for Celtic.
Scotland’s most successful club don’t require learning experiences with good moments. They require trophies, victories, success.
On the coaching fields Nancy can mentor human beings to experience good moments. At Lennoxtown and Barrowfield winners medals are the currency that matters.
Speaking to Celtic’s media partners at the Daily Record Nancy said:
You’re going to say that I am silly, but I also really like the games when we lost the four in a row, as we had really, really good moments but we took a slap in terms of results.
But it is all about results Wilfried. Winning football matches. Not about learning exercises, not about improving players as human beings.
So now what I like is the consistency that we have. We’re able to be more consistent in terms of results, yes, but also in the way we want to play offensively and defensively.
At Livingston on Saturday Celtic were a shambles defensively. Cristian Montano, a left-back scored twice in the first eight minutes. He had four more scoring attempts.
This is the most important. The consistency that we have. This is something that every time I would challenge the player, for the next game, for the next game, and so on, and so on, and so on. And after that, we’ll see.
It is not about challenging players. It is about winning football matches, scoring more goals than your opponents. Made easier by having defenders in your team and not giving away cheap goals.
Motherwell are a decent side, miles better than Livingston. Their players know what they are doing, they have a purpose, a way of playing and getting victories. Victories equal win bonuses, that is what professional sport is about. Winners and losers.
Nancy needs to win Celtic’s next two matches. Developing understanding and relationships can go on hold until he returns across the pond to the soccer fields.

The results of the next 2 games celtic play could be absolutely anything. I dont see his football coupled with his manner and attitude lasting the season but two wins and he then has unt, Falkirk and talbot. Can Tisdale and Nicholson deliver 2/3 quality players before then. Then there is a week of bologna, swinecastle and utrecht that looks ominous. Probably with his start the only acceptable defeat to the fans would be Bologna. A lot of waffling from him to put up with if he makes it that far.
Joe this Nancy is a complete head case, sooner he gets his one way ticket back to the Texas cowboys or what ever club he came from the better
Reading or listening to his interviews just gives me the fear. We might have started winning games but I don’t think for a second we’ve turned a corner. There needs to be significant recruitment for him to stand any chance because Stevie Wonder could see our squad can’t play the Nancy way without it turning into a basketball match.

Ok, some of Nancy’s answers might be puzzling due to his English language limitations,
but does he not have a club ‘minder’ to help him until he’s fully settled and up to speed with interviews?
It comes across that he’s been left on his own, with the high risk of dropping himself in it with the media?
He could be using a translator initially – and to give him a bit more time with his answers as well?
Even if he gets the players needed, we will get pumped in europe. BR first spell we were great in the league, tried to go toe to toe wi the big guns and got hammered. Rodgers seemed to adapt second time around. Those clowns on the board have a lot to answer for. Put us back years for no reason at all

This guy is insane, Stubborn as a mule. Calamity defending like primary school kids.
The next two games could decide his fate. He’s that stubborn he refuses to change
his stupid formation. Who ever decided to employ this guy should pay the consequences
