Dermot Desmond has one decision to make tonight- sack Wilfried Nancy.
Seven matches in the Frenchman has led Celtic to five defeats. Tonight it was Motherwell, beating Celtic for the first time in a decade. Just like Dundee United a fortnight ago.
The results don’t quite portray how woeful Celtic have been under Nancy. There are no redeeming features.
The former soccerball coach of Columbus Crew has ruined everything that was handed to him by Martin O’Neill.
Seven successive domestic wins and a cup final place thrown away in a 3-4-3 system that has drained every ounce of confidence from the players.
A MONTH ON FROM FEYENOORD
The squad is poor but on November 27 they won away to Feyenoord. A month later they were getting the run around from Motherwell. Lucky to only lose 2-0.
Tonight the Fir Park side are closing in on Celtic. At some point next month Celtic could easily be sitting in fifth place.
A year ago Celtic were 13 points clear in the SPFL. With nine Champions League points they were on course for a knock out tie when Michael Nicholson swing into action.
Selling off players, not replacing them to make life uncomfortable for Brendan Rodgers. In this case Nicholson overdone it.
Everyone involved in appointing Nancy needs to be sacked along with the hopeless Frenchman.
His football ideas are of no use to Celtic. His English is less than 100%. He is welded to 3-4-3 even though it is patently obvious that he doesn’t have the players for that way of playing.
NO WAY BACK WILF
Kieran Tierney and Daizen Maeda were substituted at half time. Hopefully strong words were said.
The players are good enough to beat Motherwell. But not under a manager that has sucked the life out of every player.
Dermot Desmond wouldn’t tolerate similar results in any other business. Paul Tisdale and Nicholson have blind sided him into this shambles.
And all under the experienced watch of hoops crazy departing Chairman Peter Lawwell.
If Dermot doesn’t take action they’ll be pointing and sneering at him on and off the golf courses. Being fifth in a two horse race isn’t a good look, is it?
Who should manage Celtic on January 3?
Nancy: Stick with his cunning plan
O'Neill: Whatever it takes
Maloney: The way forward

Whilst the blame for that tonight heavily involves the players and, er, em, ‘manager’, let’s not forget the MAIN culprits in all of this shambles is the plc board. Had the board backed BR in the summer, we’d have won 1 cup, almost certainly progressed in the CL and be on top of the league by around 8 points. The board failed, BR got so sick he left and the best supporters in the world could even turn on each other, such is the state of things.
ALL CAUSED BY THE BOARD in the first instance.
Not Another Penny
Starve Them Out and start really showing our Rebel instincts and hunt them.
Being saying this for ages, starve them out.
‘Hunt them’?
Not a good look that is.
Things are volatile enough without throwing that kind of language around.
The Board would love to seize on that as threats & intimidation, you know what our Right Wing Media are like.
.
Okay jimbhoy, you continue to sit at the back of the bus and do as you’re told by your ‘betters’ and see where that takes us. Don’t bother, we’re already there!
I’m a rebel, an old rebel, born, bred and proud of it and have never sat at the back of any bus unless it’s where I CHOSE to sit. I’m not any particular ‘hard man’, just a very determined Tim. And proud of that too!
HAPPY NEW YEAR when it comes, to one and all Celtic FC supporters. (NOT plc)
Hail! Hail! The Glasgow Celtic.
Maddest part is it’s only 4 points still. Salvageable under the right management team. A manager who cannot see the tools he has available can’t play the way he wants them too is no good to anyone. Desmond needs to call back MON if he’d come, he’d at least use the cards he has available correctly. On top of that the bloody football doctor cannot be allowed to get our January reinforcements. We got one roll of the dice and it’s needs to land favourably.
Good points, Neil, well said.
There is no sap like the sap who has paid season ticket money into that crew. Scottish football is rotten from the bottom to the top. Read my lips!
Nancy has to go now. He’s clueless. Absolutely bossed by Motherwell. If I were Desmond I’d be on the phone to O’Neill. He has to be brought back in for Saturdays game. If Nancy is still in the dugout I fear the worst.
Wow! That was a supreme clusterfuck of a performance. Nobody had clue what was going, manager, players ,fans, pundits. Utter shambles , the man has to go but not got much faith in this board to do the right thing.
Why do we have to put up with this shite we are celtic no more excuses get him out now rite nowv
That was an eye opener
Motherwell were better organised and played accordingly.
We were spooked from the start
The board have degraded the team to were we are
And put a manager in that’s incapable of using what is there to win points .
Can’t say I’m optimistic about the rest of the season
But then again as another ORGANISATION were k own to say
Its not personal it’s just business
The board got rid of Rodger’s, then Martin. Now this shambles. The league is going by the week
1 Is that cretin who was given head of football title still working for the club or on gardening leave? He needs punted if he isn’t already as giving that man space to bring in more dross will drive any remaining competent player away. And he’s a waste of oxygen.
2 Does mn have the balls to sack “the ball is the ball” manager? Or even if he does, will lord DD have given his approval by the time he gets his text in Barbados or wherever?
3 How bad can this continue to get before even board apologists realise that yes, the emperor indeed has no clothes on and it’s not a fancy invisible robe?
4 Surely if the same result happens in 3 days, then that is it? As much as it would be good to bring this hell to a close now, I feel they will be daft enough to allow for the visiting team to play against 3 at the back, with fans reaching boiling point, before they punt him.
The worst bit isn’t even knowing that so many saw this as the disaster it is, from the start. Or the fact that if we don’t punt this guy, the players’ mental health will nosedive, not just the headless performances!
The worst bit is we genuinely don’t know what the actual fk is going on. As our club understand that the ordinary pleb (sorry, fan) doesn’t need to know and just needs to trust. Remember – the ball is the ball.
And we have no clue if 5 o’clock shadow face, our essex boy head of football, is on gardening leave or sunning it up for laughs while the transfer window opens. Honestly, please don’t let that cretin near the cheque book. Look at what Motherwell brought in. And look at the outcome. Well managed funds spent on what they needed and then coached well. All that good work undone. Feels like a horrendous flashback from a heavy night out, where something awful happened but there’s only fleeting images. HH
Just to remind everyone: people, real live actual people, paid good money to go and stand there freezing their bollocks and arses off for that tonight.
BTW,if anyone has a free ticket for Saturday and wants to provide transport to and from the game, with a meal in one of the Celtic restaurants,i don’t want to know.
Honestly – Please forgive me for this ascertation…
But if it took a hammering from Sevco to get rid of the useless useless French bastard…
I’d actually take it !
Desmond is a shareholder just like every other shareholder. He’s just managed to use his shareholding better than the rest. The board needs to go. They are deliberately mismanaging the club for the benefit of one shareholder who’s interest is not in putting a successful team on the pitch, which, I suspect the majority of shareholders want, but to make money by hoarding cash to make it look like a viable proposition.
If the majority don’t pull together soon, they will have a ‘Glazer’ type investor come in who will pay a shed load of cash, then transfer the purchase price onto the club for the supporters to pay back. Just like buying a house for rent; the renter pays the mortgage!! In this scenario, the support is the renter!
Pull all shareholders together and force out the parasites!!!
Brilliant!
Oh, by the way, I didn’t vote in the above poll, the options being Nancy, O’Neill or Maloney. My vote is none of the above.
Seriously Joe this Nancy boyo hasn’t a fkn clue, playing a formation that nobody understands including the players and now we play them scumbags Saturday it can’t get any worse, sack him now and try save our season.
Anyone else still not believe if MON had stayed we would have a cup in the bag and be sitting top?
I was prepared to give WN a chance because there, at times, were glimmers of good stuff.
But I think now he has to go.
No matter how disorganised and ridiculous the club will look, MON has to be asked to return to stabilise things, I would even give him next season as well to consolidate.
He has organisational skills and massive football knowledge that can eek out exactly what he needs from individual players.
He has an aura that players run through walls for.
As stated above, we have lost 5 of our last 7, and yet, the league is still there for the taking.
Does that dithering useless MN have the baws to lift the phone to the “tash” and tell him its time?
I doubt that very much.
DD is a narcissist, and narcissists will see things burn before they will be forced to do anything by anybody, and MN is a patsy, a PL avatar.
This league can still be won, but not with WN in charge.
Every man and his dog can see that, time for the experiment to end.
I respect everyone has their own opinion but the 29 people who voted for keeping him in power, surely they are having a laugh, he’s absolutely destroyed all the good work Martin O’Neil put in place
SACK them tonight Dermot
