The social media team at Celtic are certainly getting engagement. But probably not of the type that they are aiming for.

It may be the season of goodwill elsewhere but with the board imposing a campaign of contempt on supporters the magic money tree of merchandise sales has almost dried up.

Normally a 50% sale on December 26 would go down a treat with fans.

Unfortunately the fans have woken up. They know that there is no intention of the club to reinvest the money that they previously poured in.

CORPORATE OWN GOALS

Hoarding money in the bank is the corporate goal. Last season Celtic paid £11.5m to HMRC in Corporation Tax.

A tenth of that sum would be unfortunate. Celtic is a club where they concentrate on generating profits, paying huge sums in Corporation Tax while the team suffers. It is unforgivable.

Yet that is the policy of Michael Nicholson. During 2025 he sold Kyofo Furuhashi, Nicolas Kuhn and Adam Idah.

That brought back slapping and high-fiving from his boardroom colleagues. Unfortunately it also created the Celtic Fans Collective. And Not Another Penny.

All of the excuses for failure are being thrown back at Celtic.

Not so long ago fans would pay more to buy directly from the club because they believed that every penny that came in was spend on the team.

Peter Lawwell created that whopper. Another favourite was emerging from each transfer window stronger than at the start. Not while Mark Lawwell and Paul Tisdale are calling the shots.

The second half of 2025 has been a classic case of contempt from Celtic.

• The club has briefed their friends at the Sun against Brendan Rodgers
• Blamed UEFA Financial Sustainability for failing to sign players.
• Lost out to Kairat Almaty in the Champions League qualifiers.
• Blamed Belgian and German tax laws for failing to complete transfer deals.
• Forced Brendan Rodgers into resigning and replaced him with a pal of the 2012 Exeter City youth coach.
• Banned the Green Brigade indefinitely.
• Nicholson shrugging his shoulders was recorded in official minutes when asked about transfer policy.
• Failed to hold an AGM after Ross Desmond delivered an open attack on fans and shareholders.

And still they expect fans to pour money in when the club executives have failed at every level imaginable.
