Billy Dodds has admitted that the VAR assisted decision not to award Motherwell a penalty at Ibrox is worrying.
These days Dodds plays the straight guy on BBC Scotland, no pundit can make a credible case for yesterday’s decision.
However they all know why it wasn’t given.
AN SFA ISSUE
Danny Rohl’s credibility and title hopes are hanging by a thread.
David Dickinson and his family are emotionally involved in the 2012 Ibrox Tribute Act. Likewise Greg Aitken.
The SFA knew exactly what they were getting when they put Dickinson and Aitken together at Ibrox on Saturday. The two officials delivered.
Fans of all Premiership clubs know what to expect.
When Lukas Fadinger was fouled in the penalty box in the 90th minute by Manny Fernandez there was little expectation that either official would apply the Laws of the Game. Motherwell lost 1-0.
Listening to Dodds explaining the ‘honest mistakes’ on Sportsound the Daily Record reports the former Ibrox coach saying:
I think there’s definitely contact. Fernandes leaves out his leg. Fadinger runs quickly with the ball.
I think there’s definitely contact. I think Rangers have got away with one. I’m trying to get it into my head about VAR.
VAR are now for me starting to be scared of making decisions because they’ve made so many mistakes this season after getting a second look at it, that I think they’ve stayed clear of that one.
That’s where I’m at. It’s a worry for me. Honestly, I really think that.
There are instances where you think ‘Why have they only looked at that for 10 seconds and made up their mind?’
But then there are ones you look at and you think, ‘You’ve actually looked at that and got that wrong.’ So I think they’re staying away from a couple now and it’s worrying. It really is worrying.
Dodds was happy enough with the VAR decisions earlier this year when he was part of Barry Ferguson’s coaching team.
PATTERN OF ASSISTANCE
Dickinson, Aitken, Andrew Dallas, Don Robertson, Nick Beaton, John Beaton and the rest know the script if they are to remain on the gravy train
Willie Collum has been groomed throughout his career by Hugh Dallas, he owes everything to his mentor in the Lanarkshire Referee Association.
With a straight face SPA President Mike Mulranay claimed that a worldwide recruitment search to replace Crawford Allan as Head of Refereeing led to the appointment of Collum.
No Scottish officials will be anywhere near the expanded World Cup next summer.
After two sub standard performances from Collum at Euro 2016 he was in the first batch of officials sent home. At Euro 2020 and 2024 no Scottish officials were involved.

It’s an absolute disgrace Joe. The number of points Sevco have gained through this sheer incompetence in the last 5 weeks or so is truly incredible. It needs calling out but as usual Celtic will do nothing.
Editor: Doing nothing encourages it. Dickinson, Aitken, Beaton and Steven McLean don’t even try to hide it, they are in Collum’s Groovy Gang.
So this weekend I caught glimpses of ,,
SSB with Kenny Miller , Cammy Bell
Sportsound with Billy Dodds , Kevin Thompson , Ian McColl
Sky Sports with Boyd , McCann
SportsScene with Thompson , Crichton
F*cking infested with them
Dodds getting scared of the fact they’re getting closer to having nowhere to hide, and of having to play on the level with no safety net.
The psychological effect of knowing you that are significantly more likely to get away with errors as a player,is huge.
All the bullshit from referees and ex Ibrox media people is,and always has been, psychological warfare.
If that doesn’t motivate you as a Celtic player, then you’re in the wrong place.
“I’ve Been Woinkin’ On The Wailwoad, All The Whole Day Wong!”
Eh, Waht’s Up Billy?!
And we all know, that even if we had the most expensive, most advanced VAR system available,
the members of the Scottish Referees’ Association would still find a way to corrupt the decision making process.
For meaningful progress and match officiating improvements, we just have to fully replace our refs with AI – or robots….
[I’m only half-joking. 🙁 ]
At least he’s honest about it…
Very Very Unlike The Rest of The Orange Bastards in The Scummy Scottish Football Media…
I ADMIRE him for that for sure givin the clientele he’s dealing with…
Mr Billy Dodds. – D’ya wanna job at Celtic…
We need honest ‘peepil’ there…
You’d be more honest than our dishonest tramps any day of the fuckin week !!!
Just how many articles like this are we going to keep reading until EVERY club in Scotland says no more…..it’s Corrupt.
Thankfully very few actually have a TV licence. So antiquated. and unenforceable to Collect.
It’s only very worrying for the rest of Scottish football, the new Ibrox club will be less concerned.
In other words wee Billy boy Dodds is saying ” aw
naw .. they’ve as tippled to what’s going on with referees and our VAR pals ? ” It’s quite difficult to understand his speech and grammar most times to be fair on the radio and on TV ? ‘He’s missed a cuttlay chances ! ‘ Translates to he’s missed a couple of chances ! It’s strange how that is acceptable for the TV and radio every week by his bosses . They obviously cannot find another person whose understanding of the English language is superior to wee Billy’s ? My wurdddd !

Wondering is there is a section on the BBC application form for EBT recipients.
