Peter Lawwell’s upcoming departure from Celtic is starting to cause distress among his fan-boys, cheerleaders and apologists.
It was predictable that the outgoing Chairman would use of his legacy media chums to have another attack on the naughty Celtic fans that don’t appreciate the brilliance of the former Clydeport bean-counter. Step forward Hugh Keevins of the Daily Record.
LAWELL MAKES CELTIC UEFA NO MARKS
Under Lawwell Celtic have gone over 20 years without winning a UEFA knock out tie. Giovanni van Bronckhorst has won four of them, Barry Ferguson has one on his 17 match Ibrox CV.
Two Scottish clubs have reached UEFA finals since Celtic beat Barcelona in 2004 with Lawwell in post for six months. On an initial annual salary of £248,000. By 2019 he was picking that up every 28 days.

Donegan is a former Scotsman and Guardian golf reporter. Back in the nineties he was a Parliamentary aide to Brian Wilson, Celtic’s incoming interim Chairman.

He has been based in the USA for a number of years and was at one time a regular guest on a couple of Celtic podcasts.
Joining in with Keevins and the Daily Record to attack those naughty Celtic fans that didn’t fully appreciate Lawwell seems highly appropriate. All of them stuck in a time machine that revolved around the poisonous O** F*** brand.
Over the next few days there will be more tearful tributes to Lawwell from those that he fed crumbs to.
Although he will technically leave Celtic tomorrow his influence will still remain strong.
Almost everyone working for Celtic was appointed by Lawwell or Nicholson, it will take many years to finally shake off the influence of the outgoing Chairman.
It’ll take a while for the stench to disappear, particularly given that the only a small part of the corruption has been removed.

But seriously, it demonstrates how easily people are seduced by prawn sandwiches and vague feelings of self-importance once they reach middle age. I remember that guy being interviewed in ‘Not The View’ back in the 80s and I seem to recall he was rather anti-board at the time but now he can’t seem to recognise that PL and his cohort have presided over a period of comparable stagnation and decline as Desmond White and co did back then.
I neglected to mention Donegan was also employed for a time by Brian Wilson MP as his House of Commons assistant, which I think explains rather a lot……
