After more than four years as CEO Michael Nicholson has plucked up the courage to be interviewed by Celtic TV.
Former Super Scoreboard presenter Gerry McCulloch is no Jeremy Paxman with the Celtic CEO guided through the softest of questions.
The interview lasted four minutes and revealed absolutely nothing. Wifried Nancy knows what he is dealing with. Nicholson has nothing to offer.
NICHOLSON’S SILENCE
All the cliches were trotted out with nothing original revealed from the man drawing £850,000 a year out of the club.
On Thursday Nicholson was at Lennoxtown to show Wilfried Nancy around the club training ground. The CEO was lurking in the background during a couple of video clips, looking completely uncomfortable away from his Celtic Park office.
Apparently Nancy was always the number one candidate to replace Brendan Rodgers.
With no contacts in football that idea was almost certainly given to Nicholson by Paul Tisdale, the Head of Football Operations.
Finding a coach prepared to work with Tisdale’s recruitment choices appears to have been the most important criteria is looking for a manager. Strangely both Martin O’Neill and Brendan Rodgers found no use for Shin Yamada and Hayato Inamura.
When Brendan resigned, we were aware we always have to be aware of the market.
We’ve been aware of Wilfried for a long time, He was our number one candidate going into the process. The more we looked into it, the more we saw that he aligned with what we need and what our vision for for the club is.
We you we want to develop the club. We want to develop players and we want to succeed. So there’s a real performance element and the more we looked at this the more we we felt that Wilfried was a perfect fit.
ZERO AMBITION
There was no detail on the vision for the club from Nicholson. Presumably it remains to make huge profits, fail to reinvest and deliver eight figure payments in Corporation Tax to HMRC.
Apparently it was a complex process to appoint Nancy despite Columbus Crew finishing their season on November 8. Much like the difficulties Nicholson has in completing transfer deals.
Nancy will preview Sunday’s match with Hearts on his own at Lennoxtown.
After yesterday’s visit to the training ground Nicholson is back to his office trying to finalise the deals to sell Daizen Maeda, Yang Hyun-jun and Reo Hatate as early as possible in January.
Three of Nicholson’s summer signings are expected to be off on December15 to compete in the African Cup of Nations. Another example of the forward thinking of the Celtic CEO.

The players are no longer playing under the uncertainty with an interim manager.
Hopefully, the momentum created by MON will continue and develop.
The only doubt, for me, is if Nancy is the manager or the ‘Head Coach’.
It makes the January transfer window even more interesting / crucial?
And it is reasonable to expect Maeda to leave in January?
Will also be interesting to see how Nancy tweaks tactics / formation
– and to see if any players flourish under the new manager in the short-term…?
Manager
The first reported comment of the new manger is to say that he thinks that the players need to believe in themseves more!
We have just won seven out of eight games under an interim managererial team. Did he not notice?
I think he has just put his foot in it as he entered the door!
I first heard of the name of Wilfried Nancy several months ago, when he was suggested as a potential manager for sevco, pre our former hero,Russell Martin being awarded the poisoned chalice of dignity. It was by a contributor to the daily record hotline.
You don’t think?…….naw they wouldn’t …….. but then again you never know?
Your handle say it all. Pants on fire.
As well as the slip ” our former hero” hey joe get rid of these hunsters clogging up the bandwidth mate
You must have skipped the irony class at school, mate.
Lighten up. HH.
You are promoting the filth that is the daily what? Are you Celtic?
You really are a bitter wee man beacuse you never got the answer you wanted at the AGM in 2024. Your personal attacks on Michael Nicholson ae becoming more deranged by the day. Typical ex hack with an axe to grind.
Hi Matt: Love and big hugs to yourself and all the lads at Celtic Thick News #selikfamily #onelove
Showed yourself up – you edited the post with your comment before you posted it. Absolute sham to call someone you disagree with as being from another site which you now try to put down by calling Celtic Thick News!
Failed hack – the rest of us will get on with supporting the team and not obsessing about ourselves.
Gies a break, eh?! Let’s focus on the playing field for next ten days please.
You do know that putting a smile on someone else’s face is just as healthy as smiling yirsel!!!
So much negativity, when it should be a joy being a faithful Celtic supporter…..maybe it is different for those living on the doorstep of Paradise unlike thousands of us living elsewhere around the world.
A just don’t know……!
COYBIG! YNWA….
Editor: Hi Anton, getting a few visits from the Celtic Thick News lads, is it duller than usual over in Paul’s little huddle. This site unfortunately deals in reality or managed decline as some term it. Head back to Thick News to share charming heart-warming tales about your corporate heroes, this ain’t your type of place #notanotherpenny

Editor: Get on with it, big hugs to the Thick News Crew.
I will call out any boot lickers and Happy Clappers visiting this site, if you don’t like it head back to your happy place #notanotherpenny
You call for respect from the board to your point of view, you call out the board for treating the Green Brigade badly even when they do but when someone challenges you, its full on attack.
A club for all – no you only want your twisted world view to be accepted.
Managed decline – 13 out of the last 14 titles, 5 trebles in the last 8 seasons. When did you see that in your lifetime before – thats the reality not your warped view of one based on a bad transfer window.
Still had the stronger team and could not beat Kairat – yeah that’s the part time non exec Chairman’s fault not the highly remunerated full time managers..
Think we all know who peddles Thick News like you did at the Sunday Mirror
Editor: Matty lad, you and your cheerleaders are detested outside of Celtic Thick News.
Don’t get jealous because I was paid by the Sunday Mirror to go to Suduva, Blackburn, Vigo, Stuttgart, Liverpool, Porto and Seville while you were dreaming of a £3.5m a year CEO. I was paid to watch Celtic every week, paid and given generous expenses to report on Celtic. Dream of that. I worked for two Irish newspapers afterwards until newspapers died a death- and here I am getting paid on here thanks to your clicks and comments. Painful eh?
You will be blocked on this site tomorrow, take that back to your chums at Thick News led by Pedro’s thickest poodle.
I will leave you on here for a few hours so that folk can give their opinions on you and your corporate heroes.
Stick to Thick News, outside your bubble you are loathed and detested. Detested, get it?
A Club For All? Where have you been?
One for Happy Clappers, prepared to toe the official club line, buy their season ticket early, the merchandise, the hospitality. sit there and do this, not that.!
Never raise a peep about how you think things might be improved! Hush hush!
BR is in the past now, like the rest of Celtic’s history. We know the history, we just don’t like the way we appear to be going.
Thin Lawwell gruel is only appealing if you are on your knees and are starving!
I think you need help, pal!
“a bad transfer window.”
Not a single bad transfer window but a problem going back years. Our history of repeated failure to qualify for the CL over many years can be laid squarely at the club’s executives and board failing to strengthen the squad in time for the CL qualifying rounds.
While this may, to a certain extent, have been justifiable or understandable when the club was less well resourced, it is simply bad management when the club has tens of millions in the bank and are spending more on tax than on incoming players.
The answer for all wee men who dish but can’t take – you’re detested and I’ll block you. Well done to treat those who disagree with you like this, irony being you can’t take any criticism but say the board should take yours.
Strong words like detested outside your bubble, you have such wee man syndrome saying this whilst boasting about what you got for free whilst the rest of us paid. No wonder you don’t want to pay a penny more, you have never paid a penny by your own admission small man!
Call out the board for stopping an AGM whilst threatening free speech with blocks – any sense of irony must be lost on you. You pander to people who think they can some how oust a shareholder without paying him to go, again irony.
Then most ironic, you talk about paying HMRC Corporation Tax owed on the profits made by the club but laugh at Oldco not able to pay theirs, what do you want to do, avoid it – you think paying for players classed as Intangible Assets gets you of Corporation Tax – no wonder the Sunday Mirror was your highest level.
Block away thin skinned man, publisher of such Celtic Thick News
Editor: Tick Tock Matty bhoy, your jealousy at my success is delicious, great that you are adding to it, for the next few hours anyway. Happy Clappers are detested outside of Thick News, the one and only pro board site. Why? Because there is no market for it.
Some Celtic fans look at Brugges, Copenhagen, Pafos, Bodo and Kairat for comparisons while you lads think beating St Mirren, Aberdeen, Kilmarnock is an awe inspiring achievement. Two SPFL clubs have played nine UEFA group matches- six defeats and three draws, that is the dross that the Thick News lads measure success against. Thanks for the clicks, you won’t be missed NOT ANOTHER PENNY to feed your heroes.
Happy Clappers will never be welcome on here, you have your own website, go and use it.
Well Said Joe ? ?
Anton Declan ?, just been on Virtue signaling news , That haufwit Big Jokey or Jimmy has been scatter gunning posters because someone said something about someone else , it’s a joke of a site , That clown said he dated a miss world once on there , aye n then the Alarm clock went aff ?
I cannot believe I am reading some of the comments on here against each other
The achievments, trebles etc, have been great, but still maybe not as great as European achievement but okay parochill ?
The other detail I fail to understand is the amount of remuneration being paid to people Nicholson,Tisdale are paid for being absent and invisible as they are when addressing fans of sorry not addressing fans
Of course the managers and players that contribute to results like Kairat are not inexcusable
Celtic never in decades o r centuries needed Ultras or Happy Clappers just genuine fans
Editor, I, for one, am really glad you call out Nicholson and Lawwell and Desmond too. They’ve ‘collectively’ held us back for decades and anyone believing Lawwell is ‘non-exec’ probably needs their head looked at.
I WANT to read honest opinion and you can’t talk about the trio above and somehow make them sound good. They’re not and should be called out at every opportunity until they’re thrown out. Keep it up please, and ignore those who clearly back the said trio for robbing our supporters blind and then kicking sand in our faces at any chance they get. Lawwell, IMO, should be singled out and forced out as without him the empty jersey won’t last 5 minutes and if the new Celtic Fans Collective shows some radical teeth we can remove that board and replace it with a positive board who will act in Celtic FC’s best interest long into the future.
Let’s not hear all that crap like “football department” and so on. Celtic is a football club and that’s all it should be. But capitalist fleas have infected our club and are living richly on our supporters backs. Let’s get organised, get the single ‘voice’ we’re capable of and go forward proudly as Celtic FC. The PLC has to go as a medium to long term aim and, if things work out we should be going for a permanent 51% plus, supporter-owned club that treats our suppoorters with respect and it will if it’s supporter-owned.
Short term ditch Lawwell, he’s about as much “non-exec” as he is honest.HE MUST BE REMOVED FIRST. Anyone believing his statement that he’s never seen the 5-WA is totally deluded.
It could NOT have come to be without his say-so and it’s every bit as fraudulent as I truly believe he is.
Hail! Hail! The Glasgow Celtic, A Club Like No Other once we’re supporter owned and for ever out of capitalist fleas’ hands. Come on the Celtic Fans Collective, make this dream come true and keep up the good work, Joe. Good on you, and thanks for all you do.
The clown Lucan – Brendan even as well – Don’t even know what time that The African Cup of Nations were on…
I actually despair so I do !
Wow! Just saw Editor’s ‘reply’ on my site comment…I never really make comment on any Celtic fan sites and don’t do ‘social media’ – above mentioned reply has probably highlighted why.
I did comment on this occasion because as a fervent Celtic fan of 60+ years I was happy after listening to our new manager talk and was really looking forward to action on the pitch, particularly over the next three matches but felt a bit deflated after reading this article, where it appeared any negative angle was a preferred choice of topic.
Never mind, I’ll just get on with my happy life with my lovely family and friends and leave everyone else to theirs! Hail hail to all the Celtic Family too…..
Editor: Have a lovely day with your lovely family mate, never forget to spend at the Celtic store, over on Thick News denying reality will always be welcomed.
Wow, some people don’t trust your corporate heroes.
When do you expect the new manager to win 12 Champions League points or are you happy with managed decline driven by a guy from Exeter City?
LoL! I don’t disagree with you Sir, at the point in time of writing I just preferred Celtic passion for the team in a huge week for us all…..good luck with all your endeavours. Hail hail.
PS I have never been involved / commented on the CQN site!
Editor: LOL, WOW. Have a wonderful day cheering on the managed decline from afar as you watch the Bank Balance soar.
On here we can spot the Thick News guys from thousands of miles away.
